More than 1,400 Black women and allies have indicated their support for President Biden and Vice President Harris in a letter released Thursday.
Highlighting the fact that millions of Americans cast ballots for Biden and Harris in the primary, the women said attempts to change the ticket “disregard” and “circumvent the will of millions of voters who participated in a democratic process.”
“The suggestion that any candidate who won their primary should simply step aside because victory appears difficult at the moment is disrespectful to the voters, unjust and undemocratic,” the women wrote.
The letter is signed by Black powerhouses like Carol Moseley Braun, the first African American woman elected to the senate; Keisha Lance Bottoms, former senior adviser to Biden and former mayor of Atlanta; and Melanie Campbell, president and CEO of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation and convener of the Black Women’s Roundtable.
The letter follows weeks of Democrats calling for Biden to remove himself from the ticket after a disastrous debate performance. This week, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) added his voice to the calls, while reports surfaced of former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) pressuring him to drop out.
Some Senate Democrats have also raised concerns about the Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) plan to certify Biden’s nomination for president ahead of the August convention.
But the letter’s signees argue that using Biden’s debate performance to justify calls to step aside are unfair when compared to his record of delivering for Americans.
“The Biden-Harris Administration is running on a solid record of historic legislative accomplishments and a commitment to finish their agenda to improve the lives of all Americans, protect our rights, freedoms and democracy,” the letter states. “Further, we believe it is unfair and disruptive to judge President Biden for having a bad 90-minute debate performance against a serial liar who wants to destroy our democracy and be a dictator-in-chief.
What are those women going to do when the Dems give the proud pseudo black woman the bum’s rush out the back door?
Those with any assets at all will just twerk. And complain.
Democratic primaries are awarded rather than actually fought for and won.
They’ve been had.
Was one of the Katanji Brown Jackson?
Support Massa y’all!
I’m ridin’ with Biden. Joe, remember 158 historians think very highly of you. Listed to Hunter! Don’t give up!
Probably dead voters, as the left has no problem with praying/enabling the dead, AKA Satanic trash.
Gorgeous woman and a conservative.
They be ridin’ wit’ Biden. You go grrlz.
Let him stay. It will be easier to win.
My experience with young black men has been more positive than that with young black women...rude, dumb and ugly manners.
Yes, understandable why black men like white women.
The plantation vote is strong with this one.
“The suggestion that any candidate who won their primary should simply step aside because victory appears difficult at the moment is disrespectful to the voters, unjust and undemocratic,” the women wrote.I agree with the lady. After perusing some of the comments on DU, it's pretty apparent that Biden is their guy. And the likes of Pelosi, Schmuer et al are looked upon as undemocratic oligarchs and money men. The DU hoi polloi want Biden and recoil at the thought of Schiff or Pelosi taking away their choice.
My sympathies with the DU folks. I know the feeling of being hijacked by the Bushes, Skull and Bones, Haley Barbour and Mitt Romney. I remember the way the RNC sh** all over Sarah Palin.
No, you’re right.
They really are this stupid.
African-American culture.
Ashamed of nothing. Offended by everything.
Braun who could not recall which college she attended.
That is a heckuva title for nothing.
I vote for the latter.
“So basically the equivalent of a small African village supports Biden.”
A small African village would loathe the SOB....and these 1,400 hags as well.
