This is such a buzz kill.
As it turns out, consuming just one alcoholic beverage per day — whether it be a pint of beer, a glass of wine or a shot of your favorite spirit — can shorten your lifespan by approximately two-and-a-half months, one expert asserts
Dr. Tim Stockwell, of the Canadian Institute for Substance Use Research, told Daily Mail that those who drink significantly more alcohol than that — about 35 beverages a week — could slash a staggering two years off their lifespan.
It’s a rude awakening for those who might like to unwind with a glass of pinot after a long day, or who frequent happy hours with friends or colleagues.
“Alcohol is our favorite recreational drug. We use it for pleasure and relaxation, and the last thing we want to hear is that it causes any harm,” he said. “It’s comforting to think that drinking is good for our health, but unfortunately, it’s based on poor science.”
Unfortunately, according to the doc, no amount of alcohol is safe for boozers — and his claims are backed up by science.
Recent research has shown that alcohol consumption could increase the risk of certain health conditions, such as cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, liver disease and more, per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The beer and poor eating affected my blood pressure. I've been healthy ever since. I hope that if you are reading this and you drink, that you stay on your blood tests and blood pressure cuffs!
Before, they said it was good for you.
I should’ve died before I finished my tour in Germany, 43 years ago.
Alcohol kills brain cells, but only the weak ones.
Welllllllll, I’m getting smarter every day!
I have died, just don’t know it yet.
You don’t really live longer without it....
It only SEEMS longer.
My 88 yr. old Father in law smokes and drinks vodka daily.
He would’ve lived to be about 300 yrs old by this stat.
People that don’t seize life and live it hard when they are young all just to get a few extra months of life when they are in 70s and 80s are fools.
Better to go out like a boss instead of in bedridden misery.
Alleged expert is full of bullschtein. WebMD makes a general statement:
“Alcohol can affect your body in different ways, depending on how much you drink. In general, experts say it’s OK to have up to one drink a day if you’re a woman or two if you’re a man..”
I bought an interesting book last year: “Eat to Beat Disease” by Wm. Li, MD. He calls beer a miracle food that, among other things, clears out your arteries. I’ve always hated beer but kept shopping til I found one I like, Pilsner Urquel, and bought a case. As a small woman,I drink one-half a can every night and have come to enjoy it. Assume my arteries do too. Will have cholesterol test soon, but with blood pressure 116/74 I’m not worried. (I only take one prescription drug, so it’s not because of drugs.)
My grandfather was a roaring drunkard. He died of emphysema at age 82 even though nobody wanted him to last that long apparently. I think the booze pickled him.
I'm goin' with that. It's the only theory that seems to explain everything.
I am gonna live forever. But it won’t be any fun.
I had 2 cosmos at brunch today. I guess I will be dead tomorrow.
Not a problem. I eat red meat, eggs and drink milk. I’ll be dead long before the alcohol gets me...
80 just went out with girls .
On Mom’s 99th birthday I told her it was OK if she wanted to take up smoking.
He might yet.
