It’s been nearly three months since the U.S. government announced an outbreak of the bird flu virus on dairy farms. The World Health Organization considers the virus a public health concern because of its potential to cause a pandemic, yet the U.S. has tested only about 45 people across the country.
“We’re flying blind,” said Jennifer Nuzzo, director of the Pandemic Center at the Brown University School of Public Health. With so few tests run, she said, it’s impossible to know how many farmworkers have been infected, or how serious the disease is. A lack of testing means the country might not notice if the virus begins to spread between people — the gateway to another pandemic.
“We’d like to be doing more testing. There’s no doubt about that,” said Nirav Shah, principal deputy director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC’s bird flu test is the only one the Food and Drug Administration has authorized for use right now.

Like I believe anything from the corruptocracy or npr?
It seems to me that it shouldn’t be hard at all to get farm workers to be tested. If they are positive, it probably means that their herd or flock has the virus, and farmers would want to know that as soon as possible.

Here we go again. They have been ramping up the bird flu fear porn for a while now. When you watch for it then it is easy to see.
Nothing that can be avoided by taking enough Vitamins B6, C, D3, E and K plus supplemental zinc.

I think you are being sarcastic, but just the opposite is true. This variant of the bird flu doesn't seem to kill the birds like past variants. But the expert's solution is to kill all of the sick birds and all of the other birds on the same farm, e.g. help put the farmer out of business. This is like killing all of the humans that caught COVID to stop COVID.
I believe we should let most diseases run their course. It strengthens the host and lets the virus migrate into a less serious variant. Please remember that the Spanish flu is still with us, it has just modified itself into being much less lethal.
Don’t worry about voting. I’m sure the Demoncrats already have your mail in ballot and it’s already filled out and mailed in.
I think many people would not want to eat a chicken that came from a farm with an outbreak - and at the least, they’d want to know the disease status.
We lost over 50 million birds in each of the past two outbreaks; yes, many were culled to reduce the spread; but infected birds had up to a 90% to 100% mortality.
I’m not very concerned about human transmission; but potential problems with the food supply and the cost to farmers are concerning.
I will never, ever listen to the “health experts” on this kind of thing, and regard any articles like this from sources such as NPR as total pap.
I will trust my own mind, and sources I trust to tell the truth.

I believe I have heard all of NPR’s “health experts” I need to hear. Well, unless they will tell us when they plan to release the next pandemic and what drug companies they have invested in.
If I were a chicken or dairy farmer and one of my people got sick right now, I’d want to know what I might be facing. The worker might want to know what they’ve got, too.
