The official reason for the FBI raid on Robertson’s home emerged later that day in the form of a federal criminal complaint originally filed under seal and detailing alleged threats Robertson made against Democratic political figures on social media. A few days earlier, in what appeared to be his final Facebook post, Robertson had written: “I HEAR BIDEN IS COMING TO UTAH,” in his customary all-caps, describing the president’s anticipated Aug. 9 visit to Salt Lake City. “DIGGING OUT MY OLD GHILLIE SUIT AND CLEANING THE DUST OFF THE M24 SNIPER RIFLE. Last spring, I was being aggressively pursued by a corporate recruiter looking to fill an executive-level position in my field. In terms of location and required skills, I would be a good fit. We got to the point where the company’s leadership was trying to set up a series of interviews with me.
I recognized several of the names of these company leaders from my long career in this industry. On a lark, I decided to search these names on several prominent social media websites.
It turns out that in the position I would be filling, one of the key people in my chain of command would be a batsh!t-crazy lefitst harridan who has been posting all kinds of hate-filled, obscene anti-Trump posts on social media from 2016 through 2020. I knew right then that I would never work for that company. Hell, I wouldn’t even want to be INTERVIEWED by that wretched dog — even at gunpoint.
I told the recruiter to withdraw me from any consideration for that position.

That's true, but you'd think that a little investigation beforehand would've negated the need for a 30 man raid on an old hotheaded coot, but then they wouldn't have had gotten to dress up in those cool looking commando suits...

Showed up with every law enforcement agency they could, to include marine units, as if Stone would try to make a break for it in the canal behind his home. Best part though, Stone was so dangerous that the Feds donned their plate carriers and brought M4s, but they were also wearing baseball hats....hmmmmm

That’s BS. They had any number of opportunities to peacefully arrest him on his way to church or doing errands - instead they stormed his home in a pre-dawn raid. WTF. I’d like to see the body cam footage supporting their bs narrative.
People did that all the time with Trump. And the same with Bush...I remember all the public death threats, the hanging in effigy, the bloodied severed heads.
Never punished, never even publicly censured in any way.

The rule of law has nothing to do with being deserving. Comes to it, we all get better than we deserve. Capital punishment is about someone who has violated the most sacrosanct of our culture’s taboos. In which case it is that society’s moral imperative to insure that the offender never has opportunity to repeat such a crime, therefore he must be denied the company of men, all men.
Since we don’t have prisons on the moon (yet (cue the Robert Heinlein jokes), our only option is to put them in the cell they never can escape from: the hole in the ground.
It has nothing to do with “unapproved speech” and everything to do with posting sh!t that: (1) serves no purpose, (2) will draw unwanted attention to you, and (3) will be used as evidence against you in any legal proceedings that may follow
You are missing a lot regrading the 1St Amendment.

The fault here is not that he posted crazy stuff, but that the reaction to his posts was not reasonable.
Storming a home with a swat team should be allowed only when the target is a known perpetrator of a violent crime.
There are many ways to make contact without going to his home and starting a gunfight.
Kicking down the door at 6am and coming in like a home invasion is designed to PROVOKE that response.
The skill set on how to evaluate and deal with him without murdering him is well known.
They chose to make an example out of him.

They came to send a message to all Americans.
“Get out of line and we will kill you.”
Well you know, I had no idea we old guys were that frightening to these modern bearded “operators”* as they like to call themselves.
*Full disclosure. My mom was an “operator” before she met my dad . Worked the switchboard before dial phones. Dad said he never realized till too late that once you dated an operator, you were essentially out of business. You would never get another call connected again to another female.

There are cases all over the country where police are involved with armed individuals holed up in their homes and negotiators on site trying to talk the individual into giving up.
That was never the case here. They showed up at his home in the early hours then tried to smash in his front door. When that didn't work, they smashed in his front window and subsequent shots were fired.
They never attempted to negotiate a surrender, it was shoot to kill......
That very succinctly sums it up. That’s the world we live in now.
