There are cases all over the country where police are involved with armed individuals holed up in their homes and negotiators on site trying to talk the individual into giving up.
That was never the case here. They showed up at his home in the early hours then tried to smash in his front door. When that didn't work, they smashed in his front window and subsequent shots were fired.
They never attempted to negotiate a surrender, it was shoot to kill......
