Only 'White People' Ever Enslaved Others, Says Black Professor
American Thinker ^ | 08/11/2023 | Raymond Ibrahim

Posted on 08/11/2023 8:56:10 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

In a recent article, we considered the claims of Brittney Cooper, a professor at Rutgers University.  She believes that all "white people," whom she also refers to as "m------------" who are "committed to being villains" — in a word, racists — need to be "taken out."

One of her arguments is that, whenever non-whites try to have a "reckoning" with whites, the latter say, "It's just human nature.  If y'all had all of this power, you would have done the same thing," right?

To this, Cooper insists,

No, that's what white humans did, white human beings thought there's a world here and we own it. Prior to them, black and brown people have been sailing across oceans, interacting with each other for centuries without total subjugation, domination and colonialism, right?

This must be the professor's most ignorant of claims — which is saying much — that non-whites somehow behaved with more tolerance and civility whenever they landed on the shores of others.

While we don't necessarily have historical records of black sub-Saharans "sailing across oceans," we do know that they savagely warred on and enslaved one another.  It is enough to point out that, as Michael Omolewa, a Nigerian diplomat, once did:

[T]he bulk of the supply [of African slaves sold to Europeans] came from the Nigerians. These Nigerian middlemen moved to the interior where they captured other Nigerians who belonged to other communities. ... Many Nigerian middlemen began to depend totally on the slave trade and neglected every other business and occupation. The result was that when the trade was abolished [by England in 1807] these Nigerians began to protest. As years went by and the trade collapsed such Nigerians lost their sources of income and became impoverished.

Wasn't he the guy Midas was based on?

No.

Midas was Cretan and around at least two thousand years before Mansa Musa.

The professor has evidently never heard of Moses and the enslavement of the Israelites by the pharaoh. Before emancipation, American slaves were well aware of that story, which they could relate to in terms of their own wish for freedom. Of course Afro-centrists today claim that the Egyptians were black Africans.

The village where my ancestors lived was raided more than once by Turkish pirates who enslaved as many people as they managed to capture--possibly some were my ancestors (if they had children who didn't get captured), and probably all of them were some sort of relatives.

That prof needs to get a refund on that degree. I guess he never heard of Barbary pirates.

Midas wasn't a Cretan. There's a mythical Midas (of the golden touch), a Phrygian, and a Phrygian king Midas in the late 8th century BC (known from cuneiform texts from the time of Sargon II).

What either of them had to do with mufflers when cars had not been invented yet, I don't know.

Even if one talks solely about the African slave trade, it was not “white” people as a whole but the west Africans selling other west Africans to the Spanish, Portuguese, French, Dutch, and English.

No, the first slave owner in America was an Indian ( aka Native American). For instance Great Slave Lake was named for a tribe that were enslaved who lived south of it, something like “they make good slaves”.

POWs were slaves through most of time. In Japanese chess (Shogi) when you take a piece you don’t take it off the table, you instead get to use it yourself.

Obviously this is someone who is clueless about slavery. Maybe the wizard of Oz gave her a diploma.

Brief, cogent and to the the point. Amazing how completely ignorant of basic history so many are. Thanks for posting.

I apologize, you are right.

Still a long time before Mansa Musa.

This so-called professor is a travesty, making a mockery of what higher education is meant to be. She should take the money and be quiet; by speaking out, she has made a complete fool of herself.

leftists know that if a lie is repeated long enough and often enough it will become believed and standard.

When will conservatives learn that one does not respond to or argue leftist lies.

One just says Conservative truths long enough and often enough to overpower the lies

Sick *****. Sadly this happens every day, all around the world 🤦‍♂️ ‼️ CHILDREN IN BAGS FOUND FOR SALE IN CONGO!
In the Congo, women carrying children in sacks were stopped. They claimed that the children were in the bags because they were being punished for some reason, but the people who opened them believe they wanted to sell them.

It is absurd that the buying or selling of children in Congo is not punished. The country is a paradise for child traffickers.

Those Africans also ate their enemies after killing them in battle.

Blacks, captured and sold by blacks, were better off when enslaved.
Their treatment, in slavery, was usually better than what they experienced in Africa.

Fire that professor. Oh, Rutgers? Never mind.

Wrong. What would you call the African tribesmen who captured their neighbors and sold them to the white slavers? Don’t tell me they didn’t make slaves of individuals they captured from the tribes they warred with? That was common practice among all cultures.

Supposedly the Africans on the slave ships bound for the New World expected to be eaten when they arrived. What could have given them such a notion?

Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca and the other three survivors of the Narvaez expedition were shipwrecked on the coast of Texas (near present-day Galveston) and were slaves of the local Indians for several years before they managed to escape.

One of the four was a North African who is described as black. Once heard Henry Louis Gates talking about him as if he was the leader of the expedition.
