American Eighth Graders See History, Civics Scores Drop on National Test

The nationwide test known as the “Nation’s Report Card” has revealed a historic low for eighth-grade history scores, and also saw the first-ever drop in civics scores, in the year 2022.

As reported by the state-funded NPR, the latest results of the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) show the lowest levels ever for history scores since the NAEP first began in 1994. This comes after several consecutive years of reading and math scores consistently dropping among fourth-graders and eighth-graders, which has been directly attributed to the “remote learning” model of learning that was implemented during the Chinese Coronavirus pandemic.

Education Secretary Miguel Cardona released a statement addressing the abysmal scores, declaring that the results highlight the “profound impact the pandemic had on student learning.”

The NAEP’s history and civics scores are produced as a result of a representative sample that is given every four years. As such, the latest results are the first in these two subjects to take the pandemic years into account. The history section focuses on such areas as the U.S.’s role in the world, democracy, culture, and technology; every single one of these subject areas saw a decline overall. The score in history in 2022 was 258, down five points from the prior score of 263 in 2018, which itself was a decline from the previous score in 2014.

Overall, only 14 percent of students reached a score of “proficient” or higher in the subject of history. In civics, only about 22 percent of students qualified as “proficient.”

Kerry Sautner, the chief learning officer for the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, said that she saw the decline in reading scores as a prelude to an inevitable decline in civics and history.

“When we saw the reading scores drop, it kind of felt like, ‘well, that’s a little prelude to what you’re going to see in civics and history,’” said Sautner, who explained that the teaching of civics and history is based on reading comprehension, which itself has been declining gradually for years. “How are we going to mitigate this when we have significant drops in everything?”

Well schools were closed down for a year what do you expect.
Plus with open borders we aren’t getting people who even speak English as their first language.

Schools have been screwing kids for decades.

The COVID shutdown was an additional layer of screwing.
The mandatory masking was an additional layer of screwing (especially for young language learners).
Now the transgender push is another layer of screwing.

The problem isn’t limited to a bunch of 8th graders who don’t know history or civics. The problem is a whole generation of kids aren’t ever going to catch up and they are permanently screwed.

Exactly, more time spent on wokeness and less time spent on scholastic studies drives the scores down.

School kids MUST learn to read (phonics), write, and do arithmetic!!! NO AI!!!!

After the basics, they must in due course learn American civics and history, algebra, and science!!!! And they must learn how to think, and to find useful information on the Internet! NO wokism, NO gender-bending, no communism, no nonsense!!!!

Do they even teach “Civics” anymore? I thought they replaced it with “Social Studies”.

It is staggering how in a world with all of the accumulated knowledge of the history of all things instantly available at the finger tips of practically everyone on the planet, that moronials and generation zzzzzzz are stunningly ignorant about nearly everything

Destruction of “history” is the #1 communist goal. Without any benchmarks for understanding what works and what doesn’t work, people will buy any preposterous solution (like everything should be “free”).

#2 is destruction of the language. This project is obviously underway.

The head of our education department is a woke moron. Just not connected to America and whose early childhood struggles and Spanish-speaking upbringing was probably not a guy who went to Monticello or Gettysburg and marveled at our nation’s history and accomplishments. Another Biden-stolen election Commie retard installed who wants America like China. Just my opinion.

Are they aware that we’ve been overrun by third-world immigrants, legal and illegal who don’t give a damn about this country and neither do their children? They are from countries with an average IQ of 70 and are unfit for anything other than manual labor and welfare.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

Maybe if they made American history and civics more interesting:

America is named after the Peruvian god Amaru, an equivalent to the feathered serpent deity Quetzalcoatl - Amaruca - land of the plumed serpent - Lucifer.

The Statue of Liberty is the Roman goddess Libertas - an archetype of Ishtar and Isis - the mother of harlots and refuge to exiles, the Whore of Babylon from the Bible.

The Federal Reserve Central Bank was developed in a house Rockefeller built on top of an alter used by natives for human sacrifice on Jekyll Island, Georgia. The global plan for fiat currency was devised in 1910 as a means of funding endless wars and destabilizing nations with the ultimate goal of genocide and depopulation.

The sinking of the Titanic was an intentional act of human sacrifice and assassination of opponents to the Central Bank. Like all other civilizations, America also practices human and child sacrifice.

Next week we’ll learn about the relationships between Operation Paperclip, the founding of the CIA, the Roswell incident and Kennedy assassination.

RE: America is named after the Peruvian god Amaru

Hang on, I’ve always been taught that America is named after Amerigo Vespucci, the Italian explorer who set forth the then revolutionary concept that the lands that Christopher Columbus sailed to in 1492 were part of a separate continent. A map created in 1507 by Martin Waldseemüller was the first to depict this new continent with the name “America,” a Latinized version of “Amerigo.”

re: Amerigo Vespucci

Occluded history to confuse and trick the masses. Here are some arguments:

from https://hebrewnations.com/articles/tribes/machirites.html

“The name America is applied to the whole two Continents of North and South America.”

...

“part of South America - from Venezuela to Peru - was called Amaraca by the Indians of that region”

...

“They also claim that Amerigo Vespucci was originally named Alberigo Vespucci and he changed his name to Amerigo in order that it be thought that America was named after him!”

from https://www.jonathancohenweb.com/america.html

“Why did they ignore the common law in the naming of new lands: the use of the last names of explorers and the first names of royalty? Their ignoring it, Rea claims, further supports the idea that they were trying to force an explanation and that the only one they could think of was a Latinization of Vespucci’s first name.”
