Stigmas and prejudices often stop people with tattoos from being hired but this worker is done with the unfair treatment.
A woman is calling out her former boss for preferring to hire people who don't have any tattoos or piercings.
In a TikTok video, Ellie, who worked as a barista, explained that while working at a cafe, she ran into issues with her boss surrounding the idea of employees being hired who didn't have a clean-cut look about them.
"We had to read all their handbooks, and they do allow tattoos as long as they're not on your face or neck," she revealed. "But there's no nose rings." Ellie herself has tattoos on her arms, and a nose ring in.
She continued, saying that the management allowed her to keep her nose ring in while she was working, but still ran into some snide comments being said by her manager.
"The manager was talking and had to interview some people and was like, 'I interviewed this candidate and she didn't even have any tattoos or nose rings like I'm so excited.'" After hearing that, Ellie pointed out that she works as a barista, who is more than likely getting paid minimum wage.

More evidence of the true epidemic (stupid).
What’s amazing is how many tattoos some of them have, yet can’t afford a cup of coffee.
Priorities I guess.
Tattoos are for losers with one exception, the greatest generation that got them during the war.
Of my four kids, only one has a tattoo. It’s on his leg and he rarely wears shorts.
It’s a stylized image reflecting a Bible verse to honor a friend who died. My son rescued him from drowning and performed CPR on him, which unfortunately wasn’t enough.
I can’t complain about that one.
Now I’m older, I’m tattooed all over
My wife is tattooed, too
A-rooty-doot-toot, rooty-tooty-toot-toot
Rooty-tootle-tootle tattoo, too

I agree!
When I see a woman with a tattoo, I see someone who has an unhealthy relationship lifestyle and seeks ungodly ways.
You choose to “decorate” your body with ink and various sundries through holes all over yourself, that’s your right.... its the owners right to decide they don’t want someone who looks like that representing their business.
Agreed. Even the ‘discrete’ ones are a complete and total turnoff. Don’t know exactly why, but it’s the case for me. This was the true the very first time I saw a woman with a tattoo; I was a young teen, and Playboy ran an article/pictorial on how some younger women were getting tattoos; butterflies on their rumps and such. I remember thinking it odd, unsightly, and disconcerting, even with adolescent levels of testosterone. No prejudgment on the subject, just an honest first reaction that has persisted.
Agree!
I always thought that - no matter how “artistic” the tat is supposed to be, they always make women look dirty and rough. I hate them. It’s amazing what people will do when it becomes a trend. They think it makes them unique, but it just serves as a sign that says “Stupid Sheep Alert”.
HATE tattoos on women and only prefer a few on men. HATE any kind of piercings, other than the ears. I worked in healthcare for years and it was disgusting looking at many of the CNAs and nurses filled with tats and adorning all the face jewelry. Trashy, unprofessional, tacky.
It’s not a matter of her being able to make coffee, it’s a matter of will people buy the coffee she makes.
“Tattoos have destroyed a generation of female beauty.”
I get your point. It’s a matter of taste but plastering the female exterior with something that can never be removed just doesn’t seem like a good idea.
We have a three part brain and only one part has what we think of as human intelligence. The simpler parts of the brain react to visual input immediately and rarely logically. For example. Women generally are not attracted to very short men. That’s because the simple filter makes the irrational judgement that these are young boys. Men are generally not attracted to fat women because the same part of the brain sees these women as already pregnant and therefore, poor reproductive choices. It’s not conscious and most of us recognize the information as faulty.
It wouldn’t surprise me to find that the same primitive part if the brain sees tattooed as dirty skin, something we don’t want on those who are serving us our food and drink.
Also HATE the 4 inch fingernails, strange colored hair, and tacky clothes folks are wearing today.
Seen both sides of the issue. Some with and without are the best or worst workers out there. Bottom line is the business owner has the right to hire who they want to hire. Nobody has the right to be hired just because.
Exactly! To me, women with arm, chest, face tattoos are essentialy trying to act like men, while most men today are encouraged to act effeminate.
Yeah.
Oh Lydia, oh Lydia, say have you met Lydia?
Lydia, the Tattooed Lady
She has eyes that folks adore so
And a torso even more so
Lydia, oh Lydia, that encyclopydia
Oh Lydia the Queen of Tattoo
On her back is the Battle of Waterloo
Beside it the wreck of the Hesperus, too
And proudly above waves the red, white, and blue
You can learn a lot from Lydia
When her robe is unfurled, she will show you the world
If you step up and tell her where
For a dime you can see Kankakee or Paris
Or Washington crossing the Delaware
Oh Lydia oh Lydia, say have you met Lydia?
Oh Lydia the Tattooed Lady
When her muscles start relaxin’
Up the hill comes Andrew Jackson
Lydia oh Lydia, that encyclopydia
Oh Lydia the queen of them all
For two bits she will do a mazurka in jazz
With a view of Niagara that nobody has
And on a clear day you can see Alcatraz
You can learn a lot from Lydia
Come along and see Buff’lo Bill with his lasso
Just a little classic by Mendel Picasso
Here is Captain Spaulding exploring the Amazon
Here’s Godiva but with her pajamas on
Here is Grover Whalen unveilin’ the Trilon
Over on the West Coast we have Treasure Island
Here’s Nijinsky a-doin’ the rhumba
Here’s her social security numba
Oh Lydia, oh Lydia that encyclopydia
Oh Lydia the champ of them all
She once swept an Admiral clear off his feet
The ships on her hips made his heart skip a beat
And now the old boy’s in command of the fleet
For he went and married Lydia
I said Lydia (He said Lydia)
They said Lydia (We said Lydia)
La La!
Agree they always look dirty. It is so prevalent now. Refreshing to once in awhile see someone serving with no tats or piercings. Rare.
