An interesting chart(s). Assuming it is fairly accurate, the first thing I notice is that the total 'above-ground' gold in the whole world is listed to be worth $12.5 trillion (Sept 2021 price.) Even if the U.S. owned all of that gold it would not even pay off half of our present debt.
:) On the subject of adopting a currency based on the gold standard, is LL comfortably stocked with gold? ...just a bit of a whimsical question.
Obviously there is enough circulating gold for Russia and China to buy a few tons, although that presumes that they have enough spare revenues that they can lock away in a vault for a rainy day. Like you, I have no idea who sells gold by the ton; not me!
What I do know is that the Bitem Admin is doing all that they can to weaken our position in the world AND to strengthen the status of China and Russia. If enough of the world abandons the Dollar and the Euro as reserve currencies, 'sanctions' won't be worth a small hill of beans.
I didn’t say it was in hand. In hand means it’s 100% possessed by you. If I wanted to get my gold it would take less time than to order cash from my savings and checking balances at my local bank branch. Last time I wanted cash it took Wells Fargo FIVE DAYS to get a piddly $20K.

Sounds reasonable, although I still wonder who is willing to part with gold by the ton in exchange for any of the current leading currencies; maybe strategic war materials? True Venezuela made an effort a few years ago to recover their gold from round about - Germany comes to mind. I can see how they might be selling now; do you know to whom?
