The mother's DNA tests showed that she’s also the uncle of her daughter. Doctors realized that the mom was a human chimera with DNA from more than one fetus.
Last year two cases of human chimeras made headlines. The first was singer Taylor Muhl from California who discovered that she has two types of DNA: hers and her non-existent twin sister. That is, in her mother's case, two separate eggs were fertilized by two different sperm cells yet Taylor absorbed the genetic traits of the second embryo in the first stages of development. In Greek mythology, the chimera is a monster with the head of a lion, the body of a goat and the tail of a snake. But in biology, a chimera is a person made up of cells of more than one DNA set.

What a strange strange strange concept to be two actual people. I guess some people feel conflicted or like two people some times, but to know that half of you is coded differently, and there is a distinct delineation!?? Not just some indistinct mixing...
Also, if there were two fertilized embryos, would that mean you have two souls? :o
“O day and night, but this is wondrous strange!”
“There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.”

Its akin to natural transplantation.
If you recieved a heart from a doner would you be your doner or would it simply be their heart in your body pumping your blood?
How strange.. I’m of two minds about the topic.
As a result, she has two different bloods streams, two different immune systems that are allergic to entirely different things (her ears are sensitive to a metal her belly button is not, for example) and that line down her stomach, which Muhl was born with.
Chimerism in humans is rare, with only 30–100 cases documented worldwide today.
Learning new things every day.
“she has two types of DNA: hers and her non-existent twin sister”
Then wouldn’t she be her daughter’s mother and aunt? Not uncle. If the absorbed half id’s as a female…
Goes back to the Greek Ship of Theseus. The ship was at sea so long that the individual boards of the ship started have to be replaced, and, they were replaced one by one, until all the original bits had been replaced
The owner of the shipyard that had done the work took all the older boards, including the old nameplate, and built another ship, with the same name.
Which is the real Ship of Theseus? The original, or, the one that the shipwright build out of the old parts.
“a human chimera “
Human beings come in all types.
Very weird, cool, scary science stuff
Watch. This ‘scientific discovery’ will ‘normalize’ transgenderism.
The article makes an interesting point—we don’t usually do genetic testing on a large percentage of the population. So it is thought that this stuff is ultra rare, but no one really knows.
Her mother had male DNA. That’s unusual as women with that genetic profile are usually infertile. (Yeah, I know that’s weird, but it’s what the article stated.)
Turns out the husband had a fraternal twin brother, briefly, while in utero, and when that brother's embryo had spontaneously stopped developing and broken up, parts of it had been incorporated into the husband's embryo, so that his blood and semen did not have identical DNA.
The mother’s DNA tests showed that she’s also the uncle of her daughter.
Doctors realized that the MOM was a human chimera with DNA from more than one fetus.
The incorporation of the twin's DNA happens when the embryo is BB size, or smaller. Not a heart, but cells that develop into a heart later.
I saw that (original) episode, but dont remember if there were differences between the right/left side black and white aliens? I know they were swapped mental states, but there was another problem as well.
