A lawyer who works at a firm involved in a litigation against MSG Entertainment has been booted from a Radio City Music Hall in New York after she was targeted using facial recognition.
Kelly Conlon, 44, was chaperoning her nine-year-old daughter's Girl Scout troop to see the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular last month when she was flagged and asked to leave the venue.
The girl scout mother was then forced to spend 90 minutes wandering around outside in the rain while her daughter watched the show despite holding a ticket, the New York Post reported.
Madison Square Garden CEO James Dolan has allegedly banned anyone who works for any law firm that has a suit against any of his holdings, including the Knicks, Rangers, Radio City, MSG and various restaurants, the outlet reported.

Not that hard - most lawyer’s websites have pictures of their attorneys right on the website.
...and MSG previously warned the legal firm - in writing - that non of their lawyers were allowed in the building at least until the legal action they were taking against them were resolved. I don’t have a problem with that; why would you want to have people that are currently suing you come into your business?
I work with a lot of doctors, many refuse to see lawyers as patients - I also don’t have a problem with that.

I don’t think that’s good enough for facial rec. I thought facial recognition data uses the “dead on” image, like you’d get in a passport photo.
I’m thinking that the government gave this company the data from it’s driver’s license photos.
In addition, the ability to exclude litigants would be a “plus”. The primary use of the system is security against known threats.
So unless the company is running around collecting images from terrorist websites, they are getting it from the government.

In this case, it’s just bad PR. It wasn’t like that lawyer was going to gain a tactical advantage in the case by taking her daughter to a Christmas show.
Recall a liquor store chain using facial recognition to minimally alert management if a person entering the store had been previously caught shoplifting. They also had tied their facial recognition system to their electronically controlled doors, enabling them to prevent repeat offenders.
The facial recognition angle is disturbing, but I have no problem with the company excluding people for this reason. In fact, I think the U.S. would probably be a much better place if more business establishments operated this way.
James Dolan feeds at the public trough but denies the same public access to a building they subsidize.
Let James Dolan pay all the taxes on the "his" properties before he bans anyone.

How is Radio City Music Hall subsidized by the taxpayers? It was built as part of Rockefeller Center.

True, but in this case there’s no court process or legal proceeding of any kind. It’s just a business owner who doesn’t want certain customers in his properties.

Red light cameras are not allowed where I live in New York and as a result, stopping for a red light is apparently optional and a mere suggestion. There are so many drivers speeding through red lights that my practice is to count to five after the light turns green before moving through the intersection.
When I travel to places where red light cameras are used for traffic enforcement, I rarely see anyone running the lights. That’s a good thing in my opinion.
