A week before Christmas and his family is consumed with a vote that will happen in 2 years and digital trading cards. Christmas dinner must be a joy. No grandkids to worry about. It’s all politics all the time! I suspect most families aren’t like that.
Maybe he’ll donate a penny on the dollar like he did for the Walker and Masters campaigns.
What a dumb idea.
He could have made watercolor paintings and sold only 10 or so to make that amount of money.
I thought the Trump Cards were cringe until I saw the reaction to them. Did people start rolling around and pulling out their hair crying when Trump put his name on every other product he could think of?
I bought a Trump- Kim peace medal when they came out in 2018. I look at it often and wonder what the future could have been even for the Norks if peace talks kept going.
Maybe he bought them himself? It’s a ridiculous unforced error to add to the other unforced errors.
“$4.5 million is insignificant compared to the loss of voters.”
What data do you have to back that assertion up with?
L
My side gig is selling collectibles and antiques. I took a chance and bought one. I’m already getting offers for double that amount.
Btt
“The people here on FR are not the ones Trump needs to worry about, believe it or not, they’re millions of voters out there who are on the fence about Trump, those are ones he has to have in order to win.”
Only he is also losing his base, especially with DeSantis running.
A $99 investment yesterday is worth $500,000 now! wish I would have bought some, darn!/sarc
Hopefully he puts out a new batch soon, I got in late on this one and missed out.
> You have family members who now won’t vote Trump over some digital trading cards? <
Please remember that I referred to “the straw that broke the camel’s back”. This trading card thing alone is no big deal. But it’s part of a recent pattern that many conservatives, including me, find concerning.
I personally am moving beyond Trump. I continue to like his ideas, especially his no-compromise, America First policy. But I am looking for someone else to carry that banner.
Now here’s the thing. There might not be anyone else! And that would bring me back to Trump. We shall see.
I bet he wins the dinner with himself too. He’s the only one who thinks he’s worthy of his company.
Correct.
They do, however, illustrate the idiocy of "digital currency".
If that's what the trumpists had in mind, which I doubt, they picked a really obscure way of doing it.
So much for my thinking this was dumb.
A bigger fool born every day.
Trump didn’t change strategy and has now been the head of the party for 5 election losses.
Trump attacked DeSantis before the 2022 midterms without reason.
Trump is fixated on 2020 and talks less about current issues.
Trump puts out trading cards adoring himself.
I, for one, will be happy to consider another candidate in the primary. If it is someone who has a demonstrated conservative track record, can stand up to the left and punch back, then I would prefer that candidate to Trump.
I think 2020 broke him mentally and spiritually.
People who voted twice for DJT, defended his record and donated to his campaigns are not suffering TDS.
The trading card debacle is an unforced error, smacks of a grift and shows how unserious he is about winning back the White House. Along with his obsession over 2020, getting setup by Kanye and Milo, his low energy poorly timed announcement (didn’t help in GA runoff), his hoarding PAC money in 2022 also won no favors. Anytime there was a smart way to rebuild his reputation and work towards a win in 2024, he chooses to do something crazy and self sabotaging. This is the same Trump who helped give away 2020 by making errors in his campaign strategy. It’s sad. Like a beloved performer who can’t remember his lines or carry a tune anymore.
I cannot believe the number of FReepers who are affected by these digital cards one way or the other. Maybe it was a foolish move. Maybe not? Who cares, because anyone who would let this one issue be a “tipping point” in their support for Trump isn’t a serious thinker in my book. It may cost him votes, but why would that affect YOUR vote?
This isn’t about blind loyalty BTW. It’s about rationally evaluating the plusses and minuses of the man. He is a proven warrior for causes I believe in, not just promising but actually waging political war on my behalf. I think I’ll stick with the man who earned a bit more loyalty than, “Ugh! Trading cards! I’m done!!!”
You’re not wrong. They’ll take the PR win and quietly screw the investors. Sounds like a politician.
