In December 2021, a massive blast of energy hit the Earth’s atmosphere. Its source was a gamma-ray burst – one of the most powerful explosions in the universe – but not just any gamma ray burst.
One scientist said at the time that the event – named GRB 211211A – “looks unlike anything else we have seen before
The event was detected in December 2021 by NASA’s Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory and the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope. The gamma-ray burst was significantly longer than average, which might normally suggest it had been produced by the collapse of a massive star into a supernova.
But several clues, in particular the unusually high proportion of infra-red light, hinted that this was no ordinary supernova.
A study recently published in scientific journal Nature explains that the massive wave of energy had come from a kilonova.
These comparatively rare cosmic events – which normally last far less than a minute – are the result of a collision between two ultra-dense neutron stars. They produce heavier elements such as gold and platinum.

Was this like the Carrington Event?

I just heard about the event a few days ago on Coast to Coast.
Earth hit by an intense blast of energy that's 'unlike any we have seen detected before
Damn GRB knocked me out of my tree stand.
5.56mm
Super Nova…..Killer Nova…..Bossa Nova…..
Let’s all dance!
I had a friend who had a Chevy Nova with a 396 engine.
Fast…..really fast.
Could this be what’s waking volcanoes up?
Go into a doctors office and ask for 100 x-rays
Where is the Kaboom?
There is supposed to be an Earth Shattering KABOOM!
2021?? We WERE all gonna die!!
Revelation Chapter 16
8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.
9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.
We all got killed. You may have been too busy to notice.
I put it on my calendar but I forgot anyway.

I’m still confused and looking around for more information.
For this gamma ray burst, there was little effect. Yet a closer and more direct hit could have catastrophic effects, with the gamma rays converting a portion of the nitrogen in the atmosphere to nitric acid that would rain down as torrents of life destroying acid rain. Judging by the pattern of species loss, a mass extinction event 450 million years ago may have been caused by a gamma ray burst.
I didn’t notice.
NOW ya tell me?
I thought I had lost some weight. This explains it.
Nature can zap us at anytime.
It’s,Elvis!😏
