Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says
The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.
“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”
And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.
“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

We will leave on Sunday and return Friday afternoon. This is not a Scout activity, just the family. Cub Scouts day camp is the week of June 20, and Webelos camp is in July. James and Vlad will be staff for two weeks of Webelos camp, but I’ll just be going for three nights with Kathleen and a few others. I’m not staff!
Ah. So next week, we have to fend for ourselves in the Kitteh Department... Kitteh Withdrawal is a terrible thing... ;o]
If the weather is nice a campout would be fun! I miss it, really. Being a Camp Host was probably the best time in my life. Most enjoyable for sure!
Now, off to the shower!
I remember saying to one of the young ArGees who didn’t seem interested in going to college, “Then go to NYC and try to make your fortune. You may succeed. And if you fail, you won’t have a better time in your life to recover.” He didn’t take the advice. He eventually got a degree.

The temperature climb begins today.
Yesterday my boss announced she’s going to a new job at a different city agency. We’re about to see the results of a “tweak” in the organization so I guess she decided not to wait for that.
Mrs. ArGee is convinced her replacement won’t like me and I’ll have to find a new job soon. Her mind tends to work like that. I’m focused on how things will go through the weeekend.

I do remember that!
And it is difficult to believe that it is near 40 years since the last time I heard it... where does the time go?
We have only one species of hummingbird in my area, but they are numerous.
I hope you have a good weekend! It’s supposed to be hot here. Tom and Pat will have to water the gardens and refill the birdbaths regularly.
I assume it will be cooler in the mountains!

What an interesting feeder! When I have a feeder, I never add red food coloring to the water. Audobon says there’s no need for it. Evidently, the birds smell the nectar, so they don’t necessarily need to see it.
My sister, our friend and I used to watch birds when we were “little.” Happy days!
I’m reminded of an old Garfield cartoon where the cat is waxing poetic about how beautiful fish are. In the last panel he’s picking his teeth with a fish bone and saying “They also make a darn fine breakfast.”

My boss likes me, but his boss, the director doesn’t because of my experience. He’s insecure. I mostly ignore it or sometimes even have a little fun with it. 😏
Ouch, though.
They’ll likely hire someone. I have a friend in another Agency who is looking to move, so I reached out to her. If she comes in things will be great.
