Pieces of ‘fireball’ meteor that exploded over Mississippi are being found, NASA says

Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says

The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.

“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”

And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.

“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

Crackin’ right along, aren’t we? LOL!

Happy Friday Eve to you as well!

As a military wife, I learned how to make a home no matter where we lived. This move has been a little harder than most, but I’ll get there! ;o]

Whenever I hear that phrase I think of Robin Williams as Mork singing to the tune of “Stayin’ Alive”.

Oh, you can tell by the way I hold my teeth
I’m an old man
Every time I sneeze

Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Barely alive, barely alive.

Having not been a Disco fan (as in being a virulent anti-Disco person) that really cracked me up.

No rain.
But not above 90 like yesterday.
Only mid-80’s I think.

I have 3 young mocking birds in a nest outside my window.

Noisy little blighters with Ma & Pa bird furtively swooping in and out to keep them fed.

We try to keep the cats inside when there are baby birds around.

Vlad came in 2nd in the Monopoly tournament. Kathleen was 2nd in her round but wasn’t in the finals. All good!

Excellent news! FS took me for a ride in “Miles,” the VW, after he helped me with the rug.

He was in a good mood, but still “not too excited, yet” about the trip. We’ll see how he feels by the time he gets to Lisbon!

Now, I’m going to sit and do nothing for a bit!

I had a nap. The naps have been heavy recently.

Glad you had a ride!

The truck has been delivered, but FS has to come over with some silicone tomorrow for the top/back brake light. The housing seal doesn’t fit properly and water floods into the cab when it rains.

Except for that little visit, they won’t show up again until they get back in three weeks.

That's a problem!

I hope they have a nice time.

So do I! They will probably be bored with it all by the time the get back, but PW seems to have done an excellent job with the travel plans.

She made a profound statement when I said I would miss them: You've been alone a long time, so you'll be fine!

Hmpf.

She’s a twerp. I say I’ll miss any of my family members when they’re not underfoot, but I’m being polite.

We have said goodbye to Bill. I’ll text him after our campout to see if he’s settling in okay, which I’m sure he will be. Hang up a shower curtain, sleep on the sofa with Little Kitty until he buys a bed.

It’ll be an experience for him one way or another, and I’m glad he decided to do it.

Littermate to yesterday’s floof?

Good morning.

Did you have a good night?

It’s good to know Bill’s Big Adventure has started, and I’m excited for him.

When do you leave for your campout?

Yes, the two kittens were rescued together and adopted as a set.

Not a bad night. The calf muscle is still threatening to knot for real each time I move my leg. Annoying!

Bill will be leaving tomorrow, I understand, and we’ll leave on the campout on Sunday. DP is working on the food plan as I type.

A group of young mockingbirds is in the front yard tree this morning. I don’t know if it’s the same group that was in the back yesterday, or a family that nested in the holly bushes.

My right leg gets like that, and yes, it IS annoying!

How long is the campout for? And is this the beginning of Scout Camps?

I thought, when I left Vegas, that I would have left the night birds behind, but there are some that just do not shut up all night. There is one in the tree between the buildings that sings all night long. It doesn’t seem to be bothered by humans, either, so there’s no help there. Stoopid burd.
