Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says
The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.
“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”
And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.
“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

I got the door sanded and the letter finished and that’s the end of my work for today. Right now, I think I want to go to church tomorrow. I’ll see how I feel when I wake up in the morning. Sometimes, just waking up is a game changer!
It’s nice to see FS in a good mood for a change. Like the sunny kid I used to know!
I’m glad your son is having a good day and that you’re a bit improved, too.
We had choir practice and did some errands, and now I’m going to lie down. Pillow cat has gone outside to think about killing.
Good for pillow cat! Maybe your nap will be done with by the time he figures out you’re hogging the pillow.
Yes, it was a bit different to see FS the last couple of times in a good mood. But I guess with PW under the weather, she’s cut him some slack recently. Also, FS said she got the raise she’d been hoping for so now she has a new project for him to do — new counters and backsplash in the kitchen.
I’m still waiting for the mail... Then I want to go give my body over entirely to the heated mattress!
I made it in three today. I did take a break between the second and third try as I had a bunch of customers come in. I think that helped as my subconscious was working away on the problem while my body did other things.
I have been informed that the picking has been halted as it is raining. Perhaps Monday will not be quite as bad a canning day as Friday was.
And DH has reported that despite the humidity his bread came out very nice and so he decided to make a couple of batches of pies for the freezer and one for dinner tonight.
Mmmmmm fresh peach pie. Yum!
I hope your son wants the new counters and backsplash, too. DP and I agree that we don’t give a rip about counters. We still have the original tan Formica from 2003.
When it comes to PW, FS says, “Anything that makes her happy, Mom.” I understand exactly what he means. This is the person that makes it known to all who will listen that she makes more money than he does. And while she’s telling us all how great and wonderful she is, he zones out with his phone apps...
Good job, HTB!
Even if I get the dreaded X/6, it’s still a good day because it just means I get another chance at it tomorrow!
Oh, peach pie is my favorite! Or peach cobbler. And peach jam. My daughter and her hubby bought some trees for their new house today and one is a peach tree. She’s turned into quite the little gardener since they’ve been together. Maybe one day, she’ll regale me with stories of her own canning!
This wasn’t a bad day, as far as projects go, but sanding the door was as far as I got, and I don’t know when I’ll paint again. The weather doesn’t want to agree with me for the next week, at least.
But I think I really need to consider making some bread in the next few days. It’s been a while, and I love the smell of baking bread! I had a school pal whose mother had a hugh cast iron stove in their kitchen and she made about 8-10 loaves of bread a day. (Family of seven, I think.) I used to love to go visit them!
I like apple much better than peach. I’m hoping to have a good night’s sleep with no pillow cat.
I like Dutch apple but have been known to scarf down plain apple pie. And lemon meringue. And chocolate cream. And banana cream. And cheesecake...
And I think it’s time to go to bed before I give myself too many ideas!
Have a good night, Ladies!
Apples will be ready to pick somewhere between ten days and two weeks from now according to the refractometer.
The Macs will be canned for pies and other treats and in six weeks I have reserved time on the neighbor's cider mill. So the Roxies had better be ready by then.
Thanks!
Good Sunday morning!
I don’t know why I tackled this so early, but here it is.

Awww...marmalade for breakfast!
Good morning.
I hope you had a non-cat-pillow night.
Another night when Folks decided to text me, long about the time I was falling asleep, so that meant that I was too wired to sleep for at least an hour after the last text.
I’ve had my shower, and I really want to go take a nap.
I see that Hurricane has been beset by monsoons and Quail Creek reservoir overflowed the dam. The Virgin River is too big for its banks so between the two of them, there is a lot of ugly reddish-brown sludge heading for Lake Mead. Not that it will do much good to help the bathtub ring and the bodies in barrels, but still...
Its ugly and sluggish here, too, and will be this way all week long. Rain for the next four days. *sigh*
I was free of pillow cat until 4:30, when we had a thunderstorm, and I got up to see whether the Uplate People had gotten him to come inside. He was sitting at the foot of the stairs and came right up and got on my pillow. Later, he came back to tell me it was time to get up and let him and Shannon out.
It’s currently not raining here.
Good morning! What a fuzzy little ginger nugget!
Good morning and a blessed Lord’s Day to all.
I’m on the four-train today too. In good company! 😊

It’s not raining here currently, but it’s ugly.
I tried to go take a nap, but I mostly just lay there with my eyelids trying to slam shut and the movie rolling behind them. So here I am.
Unngh. I’m cold. With a thermal shirt on.
Good Sonday Morning to All!!
Another one in good company on the four train today... could have been a 2 or 3 spot, or an X/6! 😯

Wow, 777 is a lot of Wordle! I just recently passed 200....
Great win % too!
