Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says
The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.
“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”
And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.
“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

I run out of rows.....
😯
Yeah, this time I had 3 letters in the right place on the 2nd try and had only ruled out 6 letters.
So I was thinking of trying to guess from about 15 letters using 2 at a time and what my chances were of doing it in the 4 remaining tries.
I broke down and picked a letter elimination word.
I was able to rule out 4 more and pick up an additional letter (not in the right place) with that guess or who knows what might have happened.
Man, that’s the pits! Tomorrow is another day, though. Hang in there. I don’t know about you, but when I do that, it only hurts when I laugh!
Happy to kick off the week with a good Wordle.
I guessed this 5-letter word in 2/6 tries.

Got it in four today.
I am going to have to start paying closer attention to what the word does NOT end with.
How do you tell what number the Wordle puzzle is?
I did the Wall Street Journal crossword puzzle.
If you did it in ink I will call you Ma'am.
Nah, I did it on the website. Sometimes I do it in the paper, but I use a pencil!
With the version I use, the puzzle number comes with the sharable boxes.
How many tries?
Oh, wait, it doesn’t work that way.
Nevermind.
See post #3501.
When you click on the finished puzzle to copy it, it automatically has the data concerning that particular puzzle.
You can go back to today’s puzzle to click on the upper right corner — three little veritcal bars.
That has all the info for the puzzle.
When you’ve finished the day’s puzzle there should be a drop-down menu with your stats. The lower right-hand corner has the copy and paste feature. Otherwise, it’s the three bars in the upper right.
It has a timer, but I don’t try to do it non-stop: I wander around doing cleanup things and letting cats in and out.
Well, I’m so far behind today, I’ll never catch up to anybody doing anything, so I’m going to take my silly self to bed and see if I can make sense of anything I read. Probably not, at this rate.
Yeah. I’ve had a couple of days where it’s like, “Where’s the ‘Reboot’ button?”
Take care of you and have a good rest!
I hope you have a good night. Frank is cleaning up from a leftovers meal.
Yay, it’s raining!
Yay! I’m jealous. We’re *hoping* to *maybe* get a little rain late this week or early next week.
Jake got wet. Serves him right: he insisted on going out as the clouds got darker.
It wasn’t a lot of rain, but a decent watering for the plants.
Oh, rain! Could SURE use summa that; gonna be over a hunner degrees tomarra. And DRY. Perilously dry.
