Pieces of ‘fireball’ meteor that exploded over Mississippi are being found, NASA says

Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says

The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.

“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”

And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.

“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

Good job!

I thought I had it on four, but I lied to me! Still, it wasn’t an X/6 so I’m happy!

I just watched a trailer for the new LOTR spin-off from Amazon. I think I’ll pass. I wasn’t impressed.

There was a thing I read this morning on “10 obscure facts about LOTR” and it stated that the fencing master of GB trained the swordsmen. He said Viggo Mortensen was the best he had ever trained. Ever. For any movie. Wowser.

Good morning. I had a pillow cat last night. I’ve starting having weird dreams with the pillow cat.

DP and I went out to the Scout camp for the dedication of a new building. Nice weather, good to see some people we hadn’t seen in a while.

Sorry about your pillow cat!

It must have been nice to get out and do something, after being cooped up for so long.

I got the bathroom floor swept, but didn’t have enough energy to make the bed.

My plans for painting the door went buh-bye. I asked FS to bring me some masking tape for the dead bolt if he had any (I’m going to replace the handle but not the lock) but I haven’t heard from him. He was supposed to come by and get my card so he could get cash for quarters, but it looks like I’m not going to see him today. There is no sense in me trying to paint the door with nothing to protect the deadbolt from the paint put on by a clumsy hand.

I also wanted to see if they might be able to take these boxes of books to the Goodwill store to get them out of my way. That’s another wasted idea. *sigh*

So now, I guess I’ll try to make the bed, or at least just throw the covers over it. ;o]

The door will still be there to be painted another day. I just finished talking to Steve, my spiritual companion, about soil and caves and other fun things. Now, I’m thinking about a nap.

Yes, but today was the first day in weeks where the sun was shining and there was no rain in the forecast. It will be sunny again tomorrow, but tomorrow is Sunday, and I won’t do that since it’s not absolutely “ox-in-the-mire” necessary.

Rain is forecast for all of next week again. So if I feel up to painting on any given day, I’ll have to wait, with the door open, since the handle will be off, until the paint dries, however long that takes in this climate.

I often wonder if the Other Folks ever give a thought to my needs or wants. But then, I answer myself by saying, “obviously not or they would be more attentive.”

It won’t be long until I’ll take myself to bed, in lieu of a nap.

FD and Rob’t are having a tough time (Rob’t especially) as the little cat stroller came today.

(Makes me wonder how many years I’ll have with Bonnie the moggy.)

Made it in four at the last minute. It was really busy in the store today. It is either feast or famine on the weekends lately. Either I have a half dozen of the faithful or I am flooded.
Only 29 minutes until closing time. I might get home before it starts to rain.

It will come along for them, and the kittens will be happy to nap in a stroller. Nap is mostly what kittens do.

Good job!!

Is your store the handmade things you talked of several years ago? Just curious! You don’t have to answer, of course, if I’m prying. ;o]

I was thinking that very thing!!

The will have days that are worse than other days for a number of reasons, and then there will be better days.

Just books and other media.

I have no time to make anything except for the family anymore.

Well, that’s a good thing! Books smell good! Kinda like a ploughed field or the desert after a rain storm or fresh-cut hay.

Making stuff for the family is good, too. It will bring sweet memories for them in later years.
