Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says
The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.
“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”
And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.
“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

w00t!
In that case I think I was just hyper-literal.
In any case, you’re funny!
True ‘dat. They used to say that about me all the time when I was young. “There’s something funny about that ArGee.”
Strangely, they were never laughing.
I’m going to the library. The book I finished reading to Kathleen yesterday ended in a cliff-hanger, so it’s a good thing the next volume is immediately available.
Sounds familiar....
I hate cliff-hangers. Books or movies!
Now, I think I’m going to watch the movie I borrowed from FS, “Oblivion,” with Tom Cruise. Some things he plays in are too intense for me, but I really want to see the new “Top Gun: Maverick.” I probably won’t be able to until it’s on DVD because by the time I feel well enough to see the movie at a theater, it will no longer be playing.
Indeed!
IIRC, Oblivion does not end in a cliff hanger.
No, the ending was quite surprising to me. Not much in the way of stunts though, as in some of his other movies. Which is fine with me. Some stunts he did drove me crazy. My son has a lot of Tom Cruise movies just because Cruise does his own stunts. *shudder*
This is the second third time in the series that the author has ended with things unresolved. I’d be really annoyed if they were current books and one had to wait, but they’re from the early 2000s.
Keeping your streak going. That is good.

Four for me today.
Once you have eliminated most of the vowels and words that end in s it should be easy. But it is not.
Of course when the word does end in s you are up a creak because there are so many of them.
I tend to wait until a series is finished before I read it because I HATE not knowing how it ends. Or even if it ends.
If you can not finish the series for whatever reason hand it off to another writer to do. That is all I am saying.
Oh, wow. Kind of like Harry Potter? Though we know his story always ended at the end of the school year and took up again while he was on summer break. Still, I don’t like the cliff-hangers.
Mona came over a while ago with a scrunchi and her hairbrush asking me if I would put her hair in a ponytail, or better yet, a braid. I’m sure she meant French braid, but I was never able to master that technique. Still, I braided it for her so it’s off her neck. I told her I would do that when she said she was going in for rotator cuff surgery, and I don’t think she believed me until today.
I need to get some filing done, but I sure don’t feel up to it. Maybe tomorrow.
My Real Brother is having a birthday in 10 days, and I would like to be able to go see him in the next year. Maybe for his next birthday, if he doesn’t die between now and then. I hope not. He’s been such an awesome brother.
Ranger’s Apprentice. There are many volumes!
In the car, we have “Spirit Animals,” which is not terrible.
They are pretty popular with the kids in this area. I always keep an eye out for any copies when I go on a buying trip.
The older kids read some of them. I remember seeing them around the house. Excellent plotting and accurate descriptions of archery technique, says one who knows! And in the current episode, a dog.
Or cats.
But a pet of some kind.
One of my favorite series as a child had a parrot.
Horses are regularly featured, which Kathleen likes, but the dog is a nice touch. We think it will be given to another character at the end of the story arc.
Today’s outing was OH-SO CLOSE to being a 3.
Alas, I guessed this 5-letter word in 4/6 tries.
