Pieces of ‘fireball’ meteor that exploded over Mississippi are being found, NASA says

Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says

The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.

“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”

And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.

“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

Good job!

I can’t do more than one of these a day. It taxes my brain too much!

Yeah. I sat and stared at the first two lines for several minutes before I guessed a word with an odd letter combo for my third try. That broke the dam, and the fourth try was in the realm of, “Oh, well, then it’s gotta be this...”

I benefit, I suppose, from having read literature from just about every period from the Elizabethan era forward, so there’s a lot of odd vocabulary tucked away in the crevices of my brain.

"You didn’t happen to plant kudzu without goats to eat it, did you?"

Almost as bad. It's Wisteria, which I call Jumanji vines. Plant it around the Eiffel Tower, and it will drag it into the English Channel.

That sounds like something from “Little Shop of Horrors.”

Buy some goats, quick!

Sometimes, these words are awfully difficult to figure out. And here I’m thinking, “It’s only five letters long, how hard can it be?” Yeah. THAT hard!

It’s your birthday?

On the Internet you don’t look a day over 20.

I’m often counting, although I don’t know why. Running? I count steps unless I have music on. Chopping food? I count the number of things I chop.

I don’t remember the results. I just count.

What a sweet face!

Good morning. Did you have a good night?

For some reason, I keep thinking today is Saturday. I hate when I do that!

I have to sort pills today so that should bring me back to reality in a hurry.

Not bad, thanks. It’s Thursday here. I’ve misplaced Shannon’s thyroid pills, but I gave her extra snacks this morning, so she was satisfied. Maybe I should look somewhere obvious, like the cabinet with all the other pills.

I’m stuffy this morning, but otherwise fine.
