Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says
The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.
“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”
And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.
“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

That’s good to know! It’s also cute that she loves it so much that she’ll sniff it. Like my younger sister and her pal (ages 5-6) going into the bakery. When asked if they wanted help they said, “No thanks. We just want to smell it.” I don’t blame the kids or the dog!
For now, I’ve decided on Iams for the new kitteh because she’s old, but she’s also fat. So she’s on a diet and needs to lose lots of weight. Poor old doll. She’s also going to get a name change, as soon as she tells me who she is. ;o]
I may have to change her food later but, we’ll see.

Thanks! I get to pick her up on Friday, and I hope I have everything in place for her by then.
They had to shave her because she was so matted, and her weight has caused arthritis, so she’s been looked after for the two-plus weeks she’s been surrendered. Her previous owner had a stroke. Anyway, I’ll get it figured out!

I am so happy that you have a kittah again.
I forget who it was that said that cats are the visible soul of the house but they were right.

Several people are not happy with the idea of me having a cat, but it’s not about them. It’s about me.

This moggy is very sad, I think, and in pain, so maybe her life so far has not been a good one. We’ll get it turned around, for sure!
She’s due to join me on Friday, if I can get a ride, so we’ll see what happens!
