Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says
The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.
“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”
And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.
“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

Clark County is really suffering. Charlie says they got 1/16” of rain last year. The norm is 3”. And here we are, getting drenched!
Walgreen’s is so ugly, I’ll be more than happy to turn my back on them. They over charged me again today. GAH!! I wasn’t going to argue with them. But I did tell FS about the pharmacy tech who tipped me over the edge, and how I told the young man I had shoes older than he was. The next day I was on the phone to corporate headquarters.
It looks like I may have to call them again to find out if they’ve decided to do anything.
If it’s not one darn thing, it’s two darn things.
We’ve set up for Patrick to pay for his new car tomorrow and transfer the title. Great excitement!
Excellent news! That’s usually the first milestone in life for a young adult, once s/he’s gotten a job.
Congratulations, Patrick!
He’s been fortunate to have the use of a car without having to own one, but James will be getting a Real Job after camp staff.
A little taste of freedom can be a dangerous thing! Next thing you know, they’ll want to leave home!
James, James and their hair will be getting a Real Job? Gloriosky! What a concept!
Which can lead to bunyons.
It’s very important for children to leave home.
It’s a major step in the journey toward moving back in.
Thanks, we noticed.
Hey, ya got it in 4. Me too!

Left the house open last night and woke up to 69 degrees indoors. With a high of 85 outside that’s about perfect.
Spent the hot weekend inside organizing. Finally have a bunch of extraneous things moved out of my Family Room, and the bookcases are all now in the Living Room. Got my desk out of the front bedroom so if I have guests I can work without invading “their” space. AND I reprogrammed my thermostat so I won’t end up running the A/C too much.
Been out every day picking up 3-4 fallen oranges since I haven’t stripped the remaining fruit off of the trees. I cut them in half, peel them and put the halves in a small casserole, cover them in ice, put the lid on and leave that on the counter top next to the sink to snack on as I’m walking through.
Well, since I was up at 0200 with no nap, I’m going to call it a day and head on down the hall.
Tomorrow is another day, in spite of what it may look like. All y’all sleep well!
I hope you have a good night! I’m waiting for the sun to go down a little more before I water the vegetable garden.
Chilled oranges sounds great!!
🍊
Here’s to a good night’s sleep!!
💤💤💤
Indeed!
Oranges, quartered or halved, peeled, buried in ice.
Just, at the mid-morning prep three or four oranges, and get them started chilling. Keep covered. By the heat of the afternoon you will have awesome refreshment. Replenish the ice and pour off melt water every hour or so.
Ai kilt dis big snek.
Good morning. Happy Twosday!
I keep feeling like it should be Wednesday. But it won’t agree with me so I guess I’m stuck with it.
Weather is still nice. I’m limping much less. But I’m not Wordling any better.
