Eat This Not That ^ | 01/08/2022 | Kirsten Hickman

Whether it's a shortage of grocery items or prices skyrocketing at stores—shoppers aren't happy. Due to supply chain issues that have caused strain on major retailers like Walmart, Kroger, Food Lion, Costco, customers are experiencing frustrations while shopping for food and other daily essentials at their local stores.

We reached out to our readers on Facebook and Twitter and asked them to share about the specific grocery shortages that are currently frustrating them the most. Customers from around the U.S. wrote in their current frustrations at stores—and a few repeated items popped up from shopper complaints.

I suspect many of these manufacturers as well as retail stores are reserving product for their online sales.

It's far more effective to sell 12 boxes from one case of a product online to 12 different customers than it is to send 10 cases of 12 each to 10 stores to reach the same 12 customers.

Couldn’t get milk here all last weekend. Figured I would be able to get it mid-week, still no stock. Plenty of Almond Milk though. Had me thinking the vegan’s took over.

When I had a cat I fed him mainly chicken.

He preferred the dark meat and I preferred the white meat.

I would buy cans of wet cat food to round out his diet.

I’ve had a hard time finding hazelnuts for some strange reason. But all my other favorite nuts like walnuts, almonds, cashews, pistachios and peanuts are still to be had in plenty (and I’m sure somebody will eventually reply that peanuts are not nuts but legumes).

This is how the average middle-class person who may only have heard the term “communism” a few times during his school days begins to understand that we are SO SCREWED. He will complain and complain about shortages and the lowered standards for quality and blah, blah, blah. But he’ll keep voting for Democrats who vow to fix the problem anyway until the electoral process is completely controlled by collectivism.

Communism loves shortages. Communism thrives on shortages.

...and shockingly I needed some electrical boxes (the plastic blue ones that go inside the walls) and there were NONE at lowes. Usually an ENTIRE ISLE of them!

Ha-ha. I see what you did there.

Here in New England there is a shortage of Oyster Crackers. Without them, New England clam chowder is not as magical. At least there is still plenty of bacon to crumble on top.

The peasants need to STFU and rejoice in the fact they’re allowed to shop at all.

Two years? At what point does “shortage” morph into “discontinued?”

Walmart and Aldi in my part of Florida stock their shelves once a day to save on labor costs.

“pasta is easy to make at home”

Oh but that takes time. Precious time that many would have to divert from their video games and other pointless crap they do. Heaven forbid they make it as a family and actually spend time with each other talking!

large boxes of childrens cereals is annoying as hell, and shockingly I needed some electrical boxes (the plastic blue ones that go inside the walls) and there were NONE at lowes. Usually an ENTIRE ISLE of them!

No doubt made in China. I noticed the exact same thing, no old work boxes at all.

Yes, comrade. A better solution would be to shave my head.

People have no idea what chemicals are used to make the products they use everyday.
My wife made a statement about how the amount of plastic trash they were showing on TV. I immediately jumped on the fact that every time she goes to the grocery store she comes home with at least 2-4 six packs of flavored water in plastic bottles.
I pointed out to her: “where do you think those empty plastic water bottles you buy go?”
Pointing out my wife's hypocruptcy did not win favors with Mrs Woodbutcher, but I could not resist.
