A runner talked his way out of a face-off with a large bear that pursued him for several minutes in Grand Teton national park in Wyoming, a showdown the runner captured in a three-minute video that went viral.

“This one was interested in me, so I had to change its mind,” he wrote.
Rather than use his bear spray, which he deemed a last resort, Matthews opted to reason with his ursine inquisitor.
In the video, the “cinnamon phase” black bear is seen stepping out of the woods and on to a road, despite Matthews’ stern objections.
“Hey – no!” Matthews shouts. “I don’t care if you’re hungry. I’m not your food.”

The bear almost seemed half-asleep. Wonder if it recently got out of hibernation, i which case it is likely hungry. Probably followed the guy hoping he would throw it some food.
This crap is going to get a lot of people killed.

Bears eat a hives of honey while getting stung by hundreds of bees, but this guy had a can of bear spray for defense....lol
This is the problem with people feeding wildlife in parks and such. The animals quickly lose their fear of humans and come to rely on humans for easy meals. But they’re still wild animals. This invariably sets up dangerous interactions later. The people kicking off the process with casually feeding the wildlife usually aren’t around when things get ugly for somebody else down the road.

A grizzly bear was walking through the forest one day and he came across a rabbit taking a crap.
The bear stopped and asked the rabbit: Mr rabbit, does that $#!+ stick to your fur?

So the bear picked up the rabbit and wiped his ass with it...

Over the winter one of my neighbors about a mile away was saying he saw numerous bears on his property.
Well, having a bear pass through is normal for us but having it or them live near us is odd, so asked my neighbor what has changed.
He said all of the local bear hunters used up all of their allowed lifetime bear tags. So they haven’t been hunter in 2 years.
So we’re on “Bear Alert” here, my 3 large 130 pound German Shepherds are gun trained so the .357 magnum I carry will hopefully scare the bear away. Don’t want a Bear vs Dog fight either.
