This is my Ghost Pepper plant:

Due to space, my garden is limited to pots and hanging baskets in this big window.

Yes, the Ghost Pepper plant is growing in a Home Depot bucket.

I got lavender started.

I planted rosemary seeds and am waiting, not very patiently, to see some green.

My black-eyed Susan’s and daisies are coming up. The painted daisies and coneflower, not so much.

I started some onion seeds and am waiting on them as well.

It’s supposed to rain today!!!!!!!!!!!

However, since the temp is not above freezing yet, I expect some icing.

It’s March, after all, and while it’s decidedly warming up,March is notorious for some of the worst storms.

BTW, the maple sap is flowing and syrup production is already going on here in NH, and these next two weeks look to be PERFECT sap run weather. Should be a really good season for maple syrup.

Your pepper looks happy and healthy! Do you actually EAT those Ghost Peppers? I can’t tolerate anything hotter than a Jalapeno. ;)

It's actually just to see if I can get any to produce. Rule of thumb is, the hotter the pepper, the more difficult it is to get it to germinate in the first place, and then the longer it will take to fruition.

But yes, If I can grow it, I will eat it.

I have a lot of seedlings sprouting, probably have to give most away or cull them. That’s what happens when you take a bunch of seeds, toss them in the dirt and see what happens next. Fortunately I have thousands of seeds still left so using that method isn’t as bad as it sounds.

Good morning! I am going to seed snapdragons, pansies, pentas, and petunias this weekend. Using my BioDome from Park Seed for now, in a very sunny room we have. The new greenhouse should be operational by April first for the rest of my seed starting. Need to put the Lexan on the new greenhouse, and hang the door too.

Isn’t having a greenhouse SUCH a LUXURY? I know you grew up in ‘The Biz’ but, still! I left a small one behind at my other farm, but Beau has built me such a beauty out here at our ‘new’ farm. I still pinch myself on a weekly basis, these many years (and needed repairs) later!

I’m going to start salad greens out there, using the system I used from fall into winter. Just double-checking the night-time lows for the near future, and I’m gonna hit it! :)

Since so many of us are expanding our gardens this season, I thought I would post this article about which veggies give you the most bang for your buck.

Garden-related projects for the weekend:

Organize/inventory seeds: group by indoor seed starting times and outside sewing times.

Consult seed starting schedule and start clearing the decks to get ready. I plan on starting a LOT this season for myself, and have had other relatives and friends request seedlings of, ‘whatever you are growing’ this season.

Clean up the greenhouse and get things squared away to start really early lettuces and spinach and kale.

Work on my garden bed plans some more - I’ve kind of lost interest, but it’s something that I really need to do. I want to make the absolute MOST of my garden beds this season - hard times ahead. And if not? I’ll still be ahead of the curve. :)

My ‘Lettuce Factory’ needs another trimming after only two more weeks of growing. It’s incredible, and I will never go through the winter months without fresh greens, again! :)

Just planted four “windowsill” herbs - parsley, thyme, cilantro, and basil.

I will start lavender in the garage hothouse next week.

I’m going to try to grow a giant pumpkin this year so I’ll start those seeds pretty soon.

I need to go outside this week and get some winter cleanup done before the snakes wake up...

Hi all, the snow has ben melting during the day but we got a fresh dusting overnight. The birds are singing. I will be starting my lavender seeds soon. My rooted celery is growing nicely and I started a bunch of green onion bottoms, Just used a half pint canning jar and the skinny rubber bands that come on the onions. Cut off all the greens and used 4 toothpicks like the celery. Hubby is so nice, he heard me say I was desperate to be around something growing and her was at Costco and picked up one of those forced tulip vases no dirt just water. We have grown them before, easy and beautiful.

Enjoy your gardens while you can. Age related health issues prevent me from walking the 150 feet to the main veggie garden for now. We did get 48 feet of Garlic and 12 feet of Shallots planted last fall but we had to hire someone to weed it and do some other pruning around the yard a couple of weeks ago. I will see if Lady Bender can take a couple of photos that I can post here. Beautiful sunshine but windy and cold on the shores of Humboldt Bay in north western Calif.

We both got our Covid vaccine shots with the final last Saturday. We are both in our 80s...

Tubebender, gosh thats hard!

Hope you get better and can get back to gardening!

Is there someplace close to the house you can do some plantings?
