So, here is my question. Would you be willing to risk catching Covid if it would mean that your kids and grandkids would have a "normal" life?
I am 65, but otherwise I have no co-mobidities, and I am very healthy. I don't want to get the disease, but I would rather be sick for a few weeks if it would mean that life could get back to normal for my family.
I am sick of my kids suffering inadequate online classes (for college and graduate courses), of cancelled weddings (twice for us thus far), of cancelled summer plans to work in Canada and other cancelled plans and travels. I have been patient to this point, but when my son cancels his wedding for the second time due to new restrictive Covid rules, I have had it.
And I realized I would rather be sick for a few weeks, and probably get over it with a survival rate of 99%, and let my kids get back to their lives.
FReepers are, I believe, often my age or older. What do you think? Would you rather risk your life or not? I think many of you may not be as healthy, so perhaps my view is too extreme.
Because this is what it comes down to, isn't it: the economic and community consequences of the younger workers and families vs. the chance of illness among the elders.
I should also add that I live in a rural area and we are very isolated from anyone with any connection to Covid, so this no doubt has an effect upon my ideas here. The effect upon my children's lives (and so many others) seems far worse overall. Our county had 6 new cases this past week, but still the death toll is only 3 since January. Being rural may be a natural buffer from the disease. I don't want to get it, but I don't want to see anyone's life destroyed by the ramifications of the disease through lockdowns etc.
i’m fine with home schooling and teaching them conservative values
That’s what is great about being an American.
You can decide.
I decide to stay away because of respect to my wife, who is vulnerable. For me to do otherwise sends a message that I don’t feel.
She’s important. More important than spending time clowning around with friends
I’m almost 67. I was the only person I saw anywhere in the Denver airport a few weeks ago that was NOT wearing a mask. And I’m doing it, literally, to help the world stay normal for my kids and grandkids.
Frankly, I fully expect to be exposed to CV19, if I haven’t already been. Herd immunity is what it’s all about, as far as I’m concerned.
OK that’s a Completely worthless comment. And untrue.
They are not being “home schooled”
I’ll lave it at that because I HATE absurd comments.
Now back to the REAL question.
My mom is 87 and she said her life is not worth the destruction of the country.
She’d rather take her chances.
That’s called courage and potential sacrifice of everything.
I’m proud of her.
I have no interest in living in a “safe” society. I don’t want my kids to grow up in a world which is so “safe” that no bad thing ever happens to anyone. It is a fool’s dream.
I want things back the way they used to be. And back when things were the way they used to be, people used to die once in a while.
The COVID “fix” is much worse than the disease.
Easy one, of course.
Problem is, everyone getting Covid won’t stop the totalitarians who are on the march, and already control much of our society, from continuing to disrupt normal life. This is their goal, they’ll use any excuse they can concoct to achieve it.
You getting covid would have no impact on future events for your kids.
What? And have to take two days off? And then be immune and have to quit worrying about it?
I don’t know, let me think.
Those brats?
Covid is not a serious threat to anyone. I’ve been exposed to Covid19 plenty of times with people I later discovered were all Covid19 positive. Not only were they fine, but so was I. Biggest problem I had was a little bit of coughing that lasted a day or two.
If you’re dying of Covid19, you’re so sick the FLU would probably kill you too.
All the parking lots in all the Reno area hospitals are empty.
So empty it doesn’t even look like enough cars for a reasonable staff present.
Reconcile.

The collateral damage to society, the economy, etc. is being completely ignored by many, mostly liberal and Democrat types. To them, there is no sense of balance of the risks we face with this virus, compared to the impacts we face by having shut down so much of the country. Those people tske a zero tolerance approach, that if even 1 personhas died even 1 person is exposed or has the virus, all.other activities of life should be halted.
“And I realized I would rather be sick for a few weeks, and probably get over it with a survival rate of 99%, and let my kids get back to their lives.”
You probably would get over it, but the survival rate at age 65 is not 99%.
Its more dangerous to drive on the highway. Of course it’s worth the risk
Re:
“Here’s some facts....the Flu is down 95%....its being diagnosed as Covid. If you die of the flu, you might of had Covid. So why not just live a normal life as though there is a bad flu going around with a slightly higher death rate, instead of living like a F*&^%&* Pu%^^y. The Covid is killing this country economically worse than a world war.”

Thank you
Kids don’t get covid.
There is no asymptomatic transmissions. WHO couldn’t even find any.
The testing is not designed for diagnosis. It is heavily skewed to false positives.
With early diagnosis, as with any virus, there are multiple treatments available. Follow the Zelenko Protocol.
Only 6 % of those labeled death from covid died only from covid.
Misinformation on covid, disseminated, by FauXi, Birx, Redfield et al in the government and the MSM, is being used to induce pathological levels of fear and guilt.
The shut down has killed more than covid and caused incredible economic damage to the country.
Freepers are often 65 and older...?
Let’s stop playing along with the farcical idea that all of this is about a virus or public health. It never has been. If that had been the case, they wouldn’t have needed to lie about so much.
President Trump’s greatest failure was playing along with this hoax to the extent he did. Want to know how I can tell? The media says the opposite, that he didn’t do enough, and they lie about literally everything.
