A local taco restaurant closed both its locations in Atwater Village and Studio City Sunday, citing harassment from customers who refused to wear masks while ordering or picking up food.
In a message to customers, Hugos Tacos described the majority of their guests as respectful and kind as the restaurant operates with some restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the message said, staff have been harassed, called names, and had objects and liquids thrown at them as they enforce the mask requirement.
Our Taco Stands are exhausted by the constant conflicts over guests refusing to wear masks, the announcement said.
Signs about the facial covering rule are displayed on the premises.
When you ask some of the customers, they get upset, they get mad. They dont like to do that, Executive Chef Nabor Diaz told KTLA. At this point, its really important for us to put the safety of our crew first.

I guess Hugo's Tacos will reopen when the State of CA gets rid of all the social distancing requirements? Nobody knows when that will ever happen...Not any time soon...
And they wonder why Covid-19 is so rampant among black and Latino / Hispanic populations................
People are pushing back. I like it.
Can somebody tell me how?
How the bleep can you eat a taco with a mask on?
(Example No. 1,489,113,426 of how the county has lost its damn mind.)
I refuse to eat or shop anyplace that requires a mask. I simply go someplace else, and if the Dem nanny state makes us wear them, Ill just get deliveries and cook at home.
Sorry, aint wearing the slave mask. But Im pretty impressed that so many people in CA objected to masks.
In my neighborhood. We’ve been talking about it on the local network.
Fighting it works.
I was in Lowes and home depot yesterday. Three days ago the governor made masks mandatory.
I didn’t wear a mask. Not only did nobody care, but I was working with emplooyees and they took this thing as seriously as I did. :)
And this is in the Seattle Suburbs. :)
The population is wising up. This whole thing really was just the flu. And if you are under 80 and not in a retirement home, less of a risk than the flu.

Masks are not the answer to that question. It isn’t that simple.
A restaurant? Masks? How’re ya supposed to ... oh, I dunno ... EAT?
I am extremely anti-mask. That said, if a business clearly states that it requires masks and I need or want to patronize that business I will wear a mask. One would have to be d*ck to do otherwise.
I took my free mask that Costco gave me and cut the mask along the inside folds. Now I can breathe fully while wearing it. I don’t mind wearing it any more. :)
And yes, the cuts are very easy to see. :)
If a biz wants me to wear a mask, I will...it’s THEIR biz..and many are feeling threatened by govt......BUT if a biz puts signs up in support of BLM...I will NOT shop there.
You’re not required to eat with the mask on. Just to order it.
Thats true all over California and most of the USA.
I had both the plumber and the electrician here this week. Two electricians and 1 plumber all wore masks while they did their work.
I know I would prefer food prep people wear masks while making my food to eat.
It’s a societal problem.....................
If they want me to wear a mask, I respect their choice....so I just go on to another business. I actually went into a store in my town where they gave me a mask, I had to rip it off immediately (Im very claustrophobic, and I also hate the symbolism), drop it on the counter and leave. So I think its better to spare them my reaction!
why should does this business feel it necessary to turn itself into an enforcement agency for a fascist government order?
btw, given that they’ve chosen to shutdown indefinitely, i’d be surprised if they have the financial wherewithal to ever reopen ...
And that's completely ridiculous. In my state, you must wear a mask into a restaurant, but you may lower it or remove it to eat.
What possible sense does this make?
I’ve seen a lot of people wearing masks without their nose covered.
I haven’t been back to my grocery store yet to see if they are wearing masks, now that the governor mandated it. The city already required it, but lots of people didn’t wear them, including me.
Has anyone been to a sit down restaurant where mask were required? It seems to me no one would go. That’s a big part of our economy to go bankrupt.
I generally refuse to wear a mask while eating. Guess I better stay out of California.
when required to wear a mask, i just cover my mouth and leave my nose exposed ... no one bothers me about it ...
