I don’t know about the CDC, but there were reports of American hospitals sending masks and other supplies to China in February and early March. I guess the thinking was to try to head the virus off over there before it got there.
Is that in metal cans or glass canning jars?
If it’s metal cans, I have seen cases where the coating on the inside of the cans deteriorates in a process known as detinning. I even saw it in a very old can of maple syrup.
At that point, the food reacts with the metal and could produce gas which would cause that.
Dirt? Food?
Temperature and humidity conditions?
Maybe it’s a different strain that hardier than the others?

Probably wise not to because their calls are probably being monitored.
But I would suspect that was the case,that the rumors are true, because if they knew it wasn’t, they could safely deny it as being just a rumor. It would not make the government look bad to deny a rumor like that. It’s only admitting that it’s true that could be a problem.

When I do home canning, much as it frustrates me to waste canning jar lids, I am anal about inspecting them for scratches.
If there are ANY at all, I mark them with an X in sharpie and they go in a separate container for use only in the freezer, like for jars that are storing nuts, beans, rice, or spices. I freeze them all and they keep about forever. They have a long shelf life to begin with, and when frozen, keep even better.

My heart sinks as I hear more and more disgusting “f the elderly, they’re going to die anyway” talk. Very heartbreaking, selfish and really shows the narcissistic nation that we have become. It more than angers me. My mom is in her nineties. A bitter nasty person who I don’t much like, but I love her despite her inner anger issues and only wish life and good things for.
