Is that in metal cans or glass canning jars?

If it’s metal cans, I have seen cases where the coating on the inside of the cans deteriorates in a process known as detinning. I even saw it in a very old can of maple syrup.

At that point, the food reacts with the metal and could produce gas which would cause that.
