Would you support a Trump request for Walmart, Costco etc, to implement purchase limits?

In fact if I were Trump, I’d call in all the big box people, Walmart, Costco etc and tell them to tell to immediately develop *temporary* policies where the panicked and greedy can only have two cases of water per person or 3 bottles of hand sanitizer, etc...No more BS where ya see people rolling out with 3 full baskets of tissues, water, sanitizer etc.

I’d put of quick stop to that nonsense.

Photo shows a perfect time to disinfect the shelves.

Sorry, but they're all out of disinfectants.

Trump asks Walmart, Target and other retail giants to help tackle the coronavirus crisis

The Anti trump call this an outright assault on free markets.

“I agree. Prior to a disaster, prepping and stockpiling is prudent. When a disaster begins, stockpiling becomes hoarding...That is one of the rules of prepper club. “

Agree, and this particular ‘it’ puts us at risk if we wait in line - so staying out of the hordes is an easy rule for us preppers to follow!

I could do that. Or I could post a thread about how I went to my local grocery store and found empty shelves. That’s not been done yet today, has it?

We're on the same wavelength.

One can only assume they're happier with stripped shelves and panic buying in every direction.☺

Thursday night: Bernalillo Walmart, 845 pm, people were loading up cars full of groceries like it was the end of the world.
TP and Paper towels wiped out. Pasta section pretty much cleaned out. Plenty of bacon and sausage. Water section wiped out.

Friday night: At Albertsons next door to Bern(ie) Walmart, longer lines than usual. Meat section severely emptied. Some other shelves cleaned out. No eggs, few cases of water or TP.

Saturday afternoon: Albertson’s refilled its meat section. Eggs restocked. normal amount of people. Purified water store had more traffic than usual according to the barber next door.
Gas prices vary from 1.69 bucks to 2.59 per gallon.

No one pushing or shoving. Normal levels of politeness.
I didn’t check the gun stores for guns and ammo availability.

Rio Rancho Public Library closed indefinitely.

Calvary Church Rio Rancho will still hold services as usual.

If I wanted someone soft selling socialism I would be on Democrat Underground. They love them some price controls.

Who’s we? And maybe you could clarify instead of offering up some open-ended mystery question.

What’s going on here? I’m in LA visiting my mother. This hoarding business is certainly happening here. But nobody has yet encountered anyone with the common flu or this coronavirus thing.

884 fatalities last count I’ve seen. Multiple tens of thousands lost to the common flu. Which is within normal seasonal parameters.

What am I missing? What’s with the panic? We’re moving into the Spring, if I’m not mistaken.

Instead of requesting something in an effort to limit panic hoarding, you'd rather it be a mandate? And maybe you should go to that site and see if you can learn the difference between the two because you certainly didn't learn it here.

Wow.

Give it a week or so for the supply chain to catch up. Most manufacturers run 2 shifts. Many will now run 3 and there will be a surplus. Its not like people are going to crap more. Its also not that there are a lot of alternate uses for it either other than stuffing bras and makeup removal. There will be a drop in toilet paper purchases as people use up the pallet stored in their garage. TP will go on sale as some manufacturers will overreact and we will soon be in overstock conditions. In the mean time pick up a NYT. Makes fine TP.

“In WW2 we had rationing.”

The purpose of that was to direct a finite, limited supply of materials in order to defeat our enemies.

How the hell do you know what the effects of rationing during WW2 were?

If they were positive, why were they not continued?
