I have TONS of pods, and as back up to that, boxes of powder.

As back up to that, multipurpose biodegradable VERY concentrated cleaner.

Probably won’t grow grains but if I did, it would probably be oats.

RE: soil/compost. I have St Louis Compost out here with locations around the city. I plan on hopefully only buying it once and then start making my own. Need more animals than my 4 chickens. $26/yard and I’d need about 4 yards to give me almost a 2 inch layer. Disc or till it in.

South Korea it is taking 30 days for it to die down, the virus did not spread country wide.

SK is almost 2 weeks removed from their "surge" of new cases, and appears to have very nearly stopped the spread. A portion of those 10-14 day old cases are becoming "serious" now, and they are seeing an uptick in deaths, now at about 0.9%. Absent a second outbreak, I suspect their final CFR will be 1.2% to 1.5%. According to their doctors, many of their hospitals have been very close to their limits. I really hope we have good data regarding treatments, anti-viral drugs, etc from those countries ahead of us, and we can implement better strategies than them.

SK's 8K cases would translate to about 53K cases here.

When I was younger (much younger), I’d buy toilet paper 4 rolls at a time and just stop by the store more frequently to get it. The 4 roll pack fit perfectly into the cubby in my under sink cabinet at the time.

Then we moved to the country and the nearest store is 20 miles away so the ‘run by the store’ isn’t as simple.

And then there’s Katrina. Nice lady.

TP is cheap, normally. No reason anyone couldn’t work toward a 2 or 3 month supply for whatever reason. It might take 6m depending on your salary constraints. I understand space constraints but there’s under the bed, the top shelf you don’t use in the closet, etc. It’s really not THAT space intensive a thing to store, it doesn’t require refrigeration and it’s not heavy.

“No reason anyone couldn’t work toward a 2 or 3 month supply for whatever reason. “

With no women in the house, that 4 roll pack you mentioned IS a 2-3 month supply.

:)

That said, I don’t see how any household would have adequate storage for a 2-3 month supply if there are even two women in the house.

Somebody ought to do a study...Where does it all go?

Not to be a pessimist but until a certain percent of the population is immune, this will come in waves.

If we only knew WHAT, precisely, was a high risk factor...besides age and other conditions.

Because that lawyer in NY isn’t doing too hot I hear and he’s not elderly. IIRC his ‘other condition’ was asthma. LOTS of young people have that as well.

If I knew I wouldn’t get an ICU bed from it, I’d go get it right now and get it over with. I could then be ‘of use’ in the community in lieu of people who hadn’t had it and possibly shouldn’t get it.

Ok, we’ll think differently here. My thought is that there are real long-term factors, not just fear or other panic-related reactions.

We shall see who’s right!

It’s the length of time of this thing that worries me more than anything.

It would be better if it was just really really bad for one month and then go away.

At one point in time I had a four female and me household. TP was brought in by the gas guzzling SUV load. It was ridiculous. I never did figure out where it all went.

Wyoming has one announced on the local news and there are students that went skiing in Italy and returned to somewhere in Bingham country. That puts them within 30 miles of my location. They are "self-quarantined" and no confirmed diagnosis yet. Local medical facilities do have COVID-19 test kits per local news on KID (Idaho Falls).

I'm concerned about the Spring Break returnees to Idaho State University in Pocatello. That puts them right back in my local community.
