MAMMOTH CAVE, Ky. (WKRN) Federal officials are investigating an incident involving at least one gunshot fired over the weekend at Mammoth Cave National Park that was prompted by an alleged sighting of Bigfoot.
A spokesperson for the national park said law enforcement rangers responded around 2 a.m. Sunday to an incident involving a person with a firearm at one of the parks backcountry campsites.
While the park did not release any additional information, a camper named Brad Ginn told News 2 that he and his girlfriend were there at the time.
Ginn said the two went to sleep around 11 p.m. and woke up around 1 a.m. to people shining flashlights on their tent. The couple exited their tent to find a man and his young son approaching.
According to Ginn, the man explained that something had destroyed his campsite and that he kept hearing strange sounds, so he was going to investigate because this was Bigfoot Country.
Ginns girlfriend claimed she heard the same sounds.
The man reportedly showed the couple his gun and told them if they heard gunshots, they should run.
Ginn and his girlfriend returned to their tent and said about five to 10 minutes later, they heard at least one gunshot.
The man and his son returned to the couples tent and stated that Bigfoot had emerged from the woods, and approached them, so he had fired his weapon.
Due to the bizarre circumstances, Ginn said he and his girlfriend immediately packed up and left the campsite.
The incident remains under investigation by park law enforcement officials.
It was just a big hairy guy with some beef jerky
I think theres a lot more historical anecdotal evidence for Bigfoot than for aliens.
That depends on your sphere of research. One could say the same in reverse since there are hieroglyphs/drawings of flying objects that date far back into the Hindu traditions, Egyptians and Chinese cultures.
If you believe in Bigfoot but not aliens you will be predisposed to believe your statement. If you believe in Bigfoot and Aliens, you might be conflicted as to how far back either goes.
There is anecdotal evidence, big hair guy meme aside, that evidence for both reach back into the ancient cultures. The fact is they both remain a mystery and depending on one’s subjective beliefs determines how one will fall in this debate.
Was he wearing a MAGA hat?
Dude was drunk or tripin or both.
And there are some stories that conflate ‘UFO’ activity WITH Bigfoot.
I’m not sure that all those ‘flying machines’ in ancient drawings and paintings actually refer to ‘flying saucers’. We’d need someone versed in historical symbology/semiotics to help enlighten us on that.
The fact that we ‘see’ something in the work of ancient people doesn’t mean that we are ‘seeing’ what they actually MEANT.
Sounds like a good reason to shoot. ;)
Was alcohol involved?
Nah - bigfoot (the real one) ain’t no socialist...instead of taking care of himself and asking others to feed him, he takes care of himself and doesn’t lobby for any kind of special rights...if he was leftist/socialist, he’d come in out of the cold and work the system...
That’s good to know at my age.
In my younger days, swim fins didn’t really help that much..
We had a construction worker show up at the store one day looking for 14EEE boots. He was a big guy.
Bear.
The fact that we see something in the work of ancient people doesnt mean that we are seeing what they actually MEANT.

Yep, keep making excuses after excuses. Maybe one of the excuses you make might be what you really MEANT. Someday, like never, you will get it right.
Huh.
What do you think I’m making ‘excuses’ for?
Do you believe that actual nuts-and-bolts outer-space alien vehicles are traveling here to see us; that they have been for centuries; and that humans have historically recorded this in art?
Why do you interpret as ‘making excuses’ the wise approach of keeping an open mind and trying to cover all the possible bases, when dealing with something about which the ‘average Joe’ has little scientifically verifiable information?
Bring me from the Roswell debris some of that material that will pop right back into shape when you bend or crumple it; and let me play with it :-)
You're carrying a firearm for protection and in the middle of the night, you hear a strange noise outside your tent. So you quietly exit the tent with your firearm and suddenly you see a 7 ft. tall humanoid thing standing there.
You have the firearm in your hands so what do you do?
1. Shoot the thing and hope you kill it to prove to the world that there are Sasquatches ?
2. Grab a flashlight then fire the gun to scare it off then chase after it to see where it lives?
3. Scare it off with the firearm then report it to the local papers the next day where you will likely be classified as a kook?
Since we’re talking about Bigfoot, the NBA’s Bob Lanier and Shaquille O’Neal both wore a size 22 shoe...........
I’ll go with number 2.
They’re probably more scared of us than we are of them.
