Charlotte Riley, who teaches history at the University of Southampton, penned an interesting op-ed in the New Statesmen last month where she literally suggested standing in the way of busy males on their morning commute to help resist perceived patriarchy in society. According to Riley, such tactics are necessary because males have naturally been raised to believe they have a right to occupy space. The point is that men have been socialised, for their entire lives, to take up space. Men who would never express these thoughts out loud have nevertheless been brought up to believe that their right to occupy space takes precedent over anyone elses right to be there, complains Riley. They spread their legs on tubes and trains, they bellow across coffee shops and guffaw in pubs, and they never, ever give way. While Rileys hatred of males is unique in that she chooses to hide her contempt in the form of refusing to move over at the train station, she also admits that reclaiming some of her space helps her to question potential assumptions that might be standing in the way of her success.
Sounds like another, of many, angry C _ _ _ ,could be wrong, doubt it
Another virtue-signaling flake.
She should be sterilized.
Doesn’t she have papers to grade or anything better to do than pondering such drivel?
Typical Democrat.
She has the intellect of a child.
I’ve heard lots of lots of rude women yelling things, not moving, thinking the world is there to serve them. I can’t stand nasty, bitter women like this.
The universities are full of people who shouldn't be there.
Yo, witch,
Take the chip off your shoulder and shove it...
I’m not clear from the article on exactly what she does to “get in the way” of busy males to teach them a lesson. Does she “lady spread” on the subway? Does she get upset if someone opens a door for her and then block it for a while?
How does she get her message across?
One good left hook to the jaw will “dissuade” her “progress.”
Honestly, my inculcated aversion to knocking the obtuse progressive model of “fairer sex” on their arrogant asses is quickly diminishing.
What a way to live. Bitter and thinking the worst of people all of the time. I see a lot of projection going on here.
Just b/c you’re hateful, whiny, snippy and paranoid doesn’t mean everybody else is.
I don’t know what form her protests took, but it seems that she assaulted some of those males in her protests. If so, I hope some of them are past the stupid idea that filing assault charges against a woman would make them sissies, and file charges against her.
Stand her on her head and pack er with cement.
I must’ve been raised wrong.
I was taught to step aside for ladies. Heck, I was even taught to hold a door open for women.
My parents were evil, obviously.
it’s spelled “institutionalized”
She should stand on the tracks, since there’s a good chance that the driver is a male. That’ll show him, when he has to stop.
Good old fashioned penis envy. And a control freak like all progs.
