“In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed...”
No! said the US Supreme Court in 1970 (Baldwin v. New York, 399 U.S. 66). “All” doesn’t really mean “all”. It only means for those cases where the penalty is more than six months imprisonment. So if you are charged with a crime carrying a penalty of six months or less, the jury option is not available.
This is disgusting! But no one seems to care.
By the way, that’s how the Fed’s convicted Sheriff Joe Arpaio. He was very popular. So the Fed’s charged him with a crime that carried a penalty of six months. No jury. The federal judge convicted him.

As a mother of four daughters, I’ve taught them to defend themselves always (as did my husband) but if they ever throw the first punch, expect one back regardless of who it comes from. Old rules and manners mean nothing.

I’m tough, not abusive and no idea what a twink was until I joined this conservative site. It’s a beloved nickname from my brothers. Once I learned what the perverted people and apparently people from this site defined what the name was, I almost asked for it to be changed by JimRob but Tom Eaker convinced me not to sully the memory and keep the name.
Every time I want to change it because of ignorant posters, Tom Eaker and his friendship and sound advice shine through. Thanks Tom. I miss you terribly.My very first friend on FR back in 2007. Donna, he is so missed by me and many others. I want to punch him and hug him.
Tom Eaker was a real man, unlike so many posters on here. He didn’t tell me to “look up what a twink is” 12 years after my first post...he contacted me in Freepmail and explained it to me, knowing I didn’t know the vernacular. He also told me NOT to change my posting name since it was nickname given to me by family many years ago. Regardless of the vernacular. That’s a real man. Not some pretend men on a posting/message board who try to be tough.
