You contradict yourself. You say he was trying to maneuver his way out of the mob. Why didn’t he walked back in the store? Instead he specifically and deliberately walked into the mob.

Unless, as has been brought up in this thread, he had a wife and daughter that was being attacked by the yoots.
He tried to walk through a group of youngsters as he exited the mall. Why does he have to walk back into the mall? I guess he didn't realize they would block his way and act mob like. He was just trying to get to his car.
I normally wouldn't be afraid of a group of 12 year old girls and I'm a woman. I'm sure most 6 ft tall grown men wouldn't think 12 year girls would start a fight with them.
And I don't think he was looking for trouble. The mob of girls are another story.
I’ll try to make this clear for you. The man can walk anywhere he pleases in public. That’s not even an issue.
Based on available video evidence the man was assaulted first and defended himself.
