Manafort is being jailed and tried for a crime for which he was exonerated. And now everybody knows, and now RR has to explain it.

It's embarrassing, but it's not double jeopardy. Manafort wasn't charged and found innocent after trial in a court of law.

A similar situation would arise if the police were trying to solve a crime and were pretty sure they had the right suspect, but didn't think they had an airtight case until some more evidence turned up. Happens all the time.
