New research shows the most significant weakening is happening under Africa which has been dubbed the 'South Atlantic Anomaly' (SAA).
As well as giving us our north and south poles, the magnetic field blankets the Earth, protecting it from solar winds and cosmic radiation.
The forcefield has weakened significantly over the past 160 years and scientists now suggest it could be in the process of flipping.
Such a change would be a switch in magnetic polarity and would see compasses point south rather than north.
Scientists believe such an occurrence has actually happened several times in the history of our planet, transpiring roughly every 200,000 to 300,000 years.
Approximately 40,000 years ago, the field is said to have attempted to switch before snapping back into place.
The SAA, which stretches all the way from Zimbabwe to Chile, is now of particular interest to scientists because it has weakened dramatically over the last 160 years...
A new study from the University of Rochester, published... data from sites in southern Africa and compiled a record of Earth's magnetic field strength over many centuries.
They used ancient African clay remnants dating back to the early and late Iron Ages to study past magnetic fields using "archaeomagnetism."
One of the lead researchers, John Tarduno, explained: "When you burn clay at very high temperatures, you actually stabilise the magnetic minerals, and when they cool from these very high temperatures, they lock in a record of the earth's magnetic field."

I’ve always wondered what is happening to the earth’s balance with all this international trade, moving things by the megaton all over the earth, many of those things being made of iron.
Plus all the iron and nickel ore being extracted from the earth to manufacture things must have some effect on the magnetic field.
We are messing with the Global Magnetic Field! We must stop all this trade and manufacturing NOW!!!!!!.......................
Not Global Warming, but certainly Climate Change. It is already happening.
What crisis ?
The magnetic field that PROTECTS the Earth is getting weaker and destabilizing as it gets ready to ‘flip’. We are already getting bombardments on the surface of Earth from COSMIC RAYS.
The magnetic field also ‘guides’ the jet stream. As it weakens, the jet stream patterns will change. We are already seeing this happen and getting ‘unusual’ weather in various places around the globe.
Eventually, this will have an effect on crops, and crop growing regions. When the reduced food supply crisis hits us, the ruling elite have plans to live underground. They also know that they are in danger if the starving peons have GUNS, and that is why they want to take them away from us.
Sound crazy ? Like Science Fiction ?
Everything stated above has already been proven, and these things are happening. They are depending on the ‘public’ not knowing about it until it’s too late for us to do anything about it.
No one knows exactly how bad it will get, and if handled properly we could probably suffer minor losses.
BUT, the one thing the ruling elite are sure of is that people in large masses don’t react well when the feces hit the fan. They are less worried about the damage to crops and more worried about a populace that thinks the world is coming to an end.

Magnetic north was headed south fast, but, it is now headed west to Russia. Damned Russians.
This flip is caused by that McDonalds turning its golden arches upside down.
