I have to admit it. I love me some IHOP pancakes. Breakfast is one of my favorite meals to eat at restaurants, though its funny, because Im normally a savory foods girl. I like to order chicken fried steak, bacon or eggs. BUT theres always an exception when we go to IHOP. I always get their pancakes. They are amazeballs!
I found this copycat version from a blog off Pinterest and read all the reviews. They were all great and everyone said they loved them. Some commented they were better than IHOPs. So that was the seller to me. I printed off the recipe and made them for dinner. (I love breakfast for dinner, too 😀 )
We absolutely loved these pancakes. And I agreed with the reviews. They were BETTER than IHOPs. Maybe its because they were homemade and who knows what the restaurant puts in theirs (not that I care because Ill still eat them). But this copycat version was great. Kallen will even tell you so. He had 3 that night and 2 the next morning for breakfast. 😀
IHOP Pancakes (copycat) Author: Holly Prep time: 10 mins Total time: 10 mins Serves: 4 servings
Fluffy and delicious homemade pancakes that taste like the ones from IHOP restaurant! Ingredients
1¼ cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
⅛ teaspoon salt
1 large egg, beaten
1¼ cups buttermilk
2 Tablespoons butter, melted
3 Tablespoons sugar
Instructions
In a large bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
In a small bowl, combine egg and buttermilk. Whisk together until blended. Add to flour mixture, stirring only until smooth. Add melted butter and sugar to batter and whisk until combined.
Heat a griddle or nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Grease griddle with cooking spray or butter.
Drop ¼ cup batter on pan and spread into a 5-inch circle. Cook until bubbles begin to form on surface and edges begin to brown. Gently flip and continue to brown other side. Repeat with remaining batter.
Serve with butter and warm syrup. Enjoy!
Shocking...NOT! never understood why they put that crap in jarred tomato sauce. They could use less regular sugar and it would be edible IMO
THERE’S NO REASON FOR FLAMING!
A lot of people cannot eat them for medical reasons.................
Darn right. I am also off the carbs and doing fine but I admit, I do crave them still. Especially pancakes and spaghetti, possibly my two favorite meals. I'll have to console myself with a big batch of buffalo wings tonight, I guess.
I love Carolina style mustard BBQ sauce!.......................

That is one of three secrets to amazing homemade hash browns.
The second secret is:
When the hash browns are ready to flip, wait another minute.

That recipe sounds sugar laden, and full of cholesterol from butter.
My home made pancakes will contain yogurt made from whole milk (instead of watery buttermilk), crushed ripe banana, whole blueberry’s, strawberry jam, almond milk, eggs, vegetable oil (no high cholesterol & high saturated fat laden butter), grated goat cheese (goat’s milk is the leanest, least fatty milk), sea salt, pinch of saffron. The base batter I use is any pancake mix I can find in grocery store which does not contain any hydrogenated fats. I avoid hydrogenated fats and high fructose corn syrup like a plague. May be why at age 77, I am healthy as a horse. The doctors and hospitals are making no profits on me.
Thank you!
I’m not a fan either, but I like a crepe and a burrito. Syrup? Yuck. Msybe a nice natural jam. But...I would rather have some type of gravy or roux.
As for pancakes from a restaurant, Cracker Barrel pancakes are much tastier, and they serve them with real maple syrup.
Take any store bought and add 2 tablespoons of butter and 3 tablespoons of sugar and you’ll have something similar
Now that we are on the topic- what is your favorite store-bought pancake mix?
Aunt Jemima was the one I vaguely remember I used to get.
Sorry...can’t read a story with the word “amazeballs” in it.
We’re on no carbs no sugar. I actually found a baking mix like bisquick that makes decent pancakes. Carbquick.
I make biscuits, pancakes, etc and use it to thicken stuff.

Try Carbquick. Actually makes decent pancakes. We had them for dinner with sugar free syrup and bacon the other night.
Try banana pancakes if you are gluten free.
2 ingredients- banana, egg.
Crush to bits with a fork a ripe banana (not brown but ripe and soft) and then add one egg (per banana)
Mix like crazy until you get rid of all lumps and it is like pancake batter- fry as usual.
As good as real pancakes, and you get a TON of energy all day
My doctor says your cholesterol comes from breads..................
I julienne my potatoes and they come out brown and crunchy.
We just discovered Kodiak pancake mix. It’s the best we’ve ever tried. Uses whole flour.

100% Whole Grain Wheat Flour, 100% Whole Grain Oat Flour, Non-Fat Dry Milk, Dry Honey (Honey, Wheat Starch), Leavening (Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Aluminum Phosphate, Monocalcium Phosphate), Egg Whites, Salt.
