Gillette, which dominates the global razor business, has long followed a simple and lucrative strategy: Add new features and raise prices.
But the 115-year-old brand is changing tactics this month by slashing prices and putting a new focus on its cheaper products. The Procter & Gamble Co. unit hopes to stop

Gillette actually mailed me a free Fusion out of the blue years ago. I use it on the weekends & use an electric razor during the week.

I use
GILLETTE FUSION POWER with the Edge shaving gel in the orange can. The cartridges are ridiculously expensive, but I get a very close shave and never get cut. A cartridge lasts me at least a month with shaving every day. I use a blow dryer when done to keep the blades dry. I don't like the prices, but it is an excellent product IMO.

My girlfriend wants me to save money on razors.
She wants to pluck out my beard for free.

Cost saving tip:I customarily get about a YEAR out of my quad blade super whizbang razors. How? The same way the old pro barbers did. I HONE the thing on a rough cloth strap, knocking down the burrs and knicks and restoring a clean, sharp edge on all 4 blades!

The thing about hair conditioner is that it's notorious for clogging pores. If that's not an issue, then nevermind.
I use a shaving brush with bar soap remnants in a Crabtree & Evelyn wooden bowl I got decades ago.

About the same here, Dovo Bismark Super plain black handle, nice Solingen steel, no engraving.
Just beyond the DC Beltway I could bring out the fancy engraved one at BBQ’s but it wouldn’t be appreciated. Can’t imagine why.

That's what I use, 100 blades for $19.00!
That, with Proraso Green Label product and for the first time in my life I am enjoying my morning shave!

I remember when one blade was adequate. And didn’t cost anything.

I remember Daddy using one like that in the early 50s. He had a cup with a round bar of shaving soap and a round brush to mix up a batch and apply to the face.
Around 1965 he switched to the injector razor and stainless steel blades which was all the rage at the time.

That's freaking funny. I feel ya. Used a disposable one time and it looked like I took a shotgun blast to the throat and face.

I too use my old Trac II razor from back in the 80s maybe. a ‘blade’ lasts me a month.

I found a single-bladed, plastic disposable with a sharp blade that’s good for at least 10 smooth shaves.

Man, haven’t thought of Oxon Hill for decades. My last gig in the east was running security at a detention facility for crazy Marielitos at St. E’s right off MLK in Anacostia in 1991. Beautiful grounds, but outside the wall.... whooeee!
