Gillette, which dominates the global razor business, has long followed a simple and lucrative strategy: Add new features and raise prices.
But the 115-year-old brand is changing tactics this month by slashing prices and putting a new focus on its cheaper products. The Procter & Gamble Co. unit hopes to stop

I think that’s what my husband uses. He was tired of paying the ridiculous prices.
Me too I love the Gillette Mach 3 but they want a fortune for them. They lost my business.
Two blades, you mean as in one on each side of the razor? :=)
Full Beard ..... hedge trimmers from Wahl and Grampa’s old straight razor for fine tuning ....
That’s a good one.
I’ve gone to a Merkur Merkur 34C safety razor like my grandfather used. I probably will only use 10-15 dollars in blades per year. Shaves just fine. One blade. A lot of people are going back to these.

You mean like their shi**y disposables that do nothing but hack up my face??
No thanks...
this is capitalism at work. good for Gilette’s competitors
People were shoplifting them. It was crazy.
I use an electric razor.
It’s like a lawnmower for your face..................
I use a chrome longhandled Merkur razor and buy the Feather blades in packs of 100 on Amazon. A year’s worth of blades for the cost of a couple Gillette three packs.
Harry’s Razors and Dollar Shave Club are really taking a bite out of the big name players like Gillette. Good! I’ve been using a straight razor for years now after getting tired of paying $30-$40 for a half dozen or so of these 3 or 4 blades and then Fusion Power type gimmick razors. I get a better shave now and what I spent in a month now lasts me a year or two. I think more and more people are finally seeing the light, and now Gillette is worried their cash cow is going bye bye.
Here’s a hint for those who have tough beards or who don’t shave every day. Lather up some soft soap and put that on the beard first. Then put your favorite Barbarsol on top of that. I don’t even use hot water anymore. The razor cuts a lot smoother and cleans a lot easier. Dry the razor after this procedure on a towel and it will last a long time.
Good razors but the price chased me away. I can’t justify $50 for two months worth of razors.
Same here, much cheaper and a better shave. Gillette can suck it.
One more thing, hair conditioner and shaving cream are chemically very similar. Most days I just use conditioner I get at tj maxx.
Back around 1990 a Roses store was going out of business and had reduced prices weekly. When it reached 70% off I went in the store and they had practically nothing worth buying.
I did happen to notice they had Gillette Sensor razors with I think 5 blades. They also had a coupon on them which made them free. I bought 3 sets then used the coupons over and over again until I had bought them all.
I have not bought a razor blade since and still have a bunch.
A few months ago I was in Wal-Mart and noticed they had Gillette Fusion 3 at $11 for a pack of 15 blades marked down. That did not seem all that cheap until I noticed the original price was around $35.
I had maybe two dozen Sensor handles I thought the blades would fit so I got a pack.
They did not fit and I had to go back and buy a razor along with a couple of blades.
I am now set with Gillette Fusion and Sensor razors for the rest of my life.
