The federal court for the Eastern District of New York issued an emergency stay halting President Donald Trump’s executive order banning entry to the US from seven majority-Muslim countries tonight, following widespread protests at airports around the country.
The court ruled on a habeas corpus petition filed by the ACLU on behalf of Hameed Khalid Darweesh and Sameer Abdulkhaleq Alshawi, who were denied entry to the US upon landing at JFK airport in New York City and detained indefinitely by Customs and Border Patrol. Darweesh spent a decade working for the United States military in Iraq as an interpreter and engineer and had been granted an entry visa after background checks; Alshawi had been granted a visa in order to join his wife and son who are already permanent residents of the US after their similar service with the US military.

Think your reading is essentially correct. Assuming the NYT article posted here is correct (one never knows these days), I feel less stressed about the judges action.
So the malcontents out disrupting JFK can go home and get stoned, then wake up to find their muslim buddies will not continue coming in after all.

Sharp Lawyers who specialize can essentially cut and paste persuasive legal arguments in less than a few hours.
Lawyers for illegals and open borders judges have a whole worldview of arguments that can be presented on the spur of the moment. The real problem is elastic legal theory taught in every law school in the country. Trump can’t fix that.
It’s not a laughing matter. People are going to be let in who are going to kill an American at some point.
It’s just a numbers game.

Yeah, they don’t seem to grasp that the judge’s emergency order only affects the relatively small number of people who arrived and were detained today. As long as the situation does not snowball in coming days (i.e., as long as airlines do not foolishly fly in ineligible ppl) the problem should be quickly resolved, one way or the other.
Of course, one cannot predict what trouble liberal judges may try to make, but the POTUS seems to have clear-cut legal authority to stop immigration by particular classes or categories of aliens, it’s a very broadly defined power.

Is it just me, or is there something in the expression on Schumer’s face, that reminds me of the exact look on Podesta’s face? (Something to do with pizza, in my own personal opinion, but it might just be extreme smug snarkiness on his part, too.) And the guy to Schumer’s right, with his eyes downcast, *definitely* creeps me out.
