Scientists have discovered a powerful new strain of fact-resistant humans who are threatening the ability of Earth to sustain life, a sobering new study report.
The research, conducted by the University of Minnesota, identifies a virulent strain of humans who are virtually immune to any form of verifiable knowledge, leaving scientists at a loss as to how to combat them. “These humans appear to have all the faculties necessary to receive and process information,” Davis Logsdon, one of the scientists who contributed to the study, said. “And yet, somehow, they have developed defenses that, for all intents and purposes, have rendered those faculties totally inactive.”
More worryingly, Logsdon said, “As facts have multiplied, their defenses against those facts have only grown more powerful.”
While scientists have no clear understanding of the mechanisms that prevent the fact-resistant humans from absorbing data, they theorize that the strain may have developed the ability to intercept and discard information en route from the auditory nerve to the brain. “The normal functions of human consciousness have been completely nullified,” Logsdon said.
While reaffirming the gloomy assessments of the study, Logsdon held out hope that the threat of fact-resistant humans could be mitigated in the future. “Our research is very preliminary, but it’s possible that they will become more receptive to facts once they are in an environment without food, water, or oxygen,” he said.

This isn’t a new strain. They are just spreading out from their regions of ‘higher density’. So you notice them more.
We all have met these creatures. Some even have family members who are afflicted. I myself have imposed self quarantine so as to ensure I am not affected. So far so good I am glad to report. Be safe Americans.

They’re called liberals.
It is worse than this. This new strain does not blindly follow computer models and anecdotal observations.
They clearly have a more “Evolved” defense mechanism than the rest.
Could be caused by Global Warming, not sure.
Morality being the social construct that it IS, survival traits are being selected in order that these snowflakes don’t melt.
Actually, science does not deal in “facts.”
It deals in hypotheses and experimental results.
When enough experemental results are gathered to either refute or affrim an hypothesis, that hypothesis is considered to be scientifically invalidated or validated.
Furtheremore, no hypothesis, or “model,” can ever completely define the natural world, as we learned from Goedel’s Incompleteness Theorem.
There is always a better hypothesis or model, than the one we have, we just haven’t found it yet.
In other words, there is no such thing as “settled science.”
Yeah, whenever I see a new Yankee in the neighborhood, I cringe. Usually first words uttered, "gee, we did not do it this way back home." Normal dose of antibiotics: Rt 95, or Rt 75, runs both ways.
I suppose they’re talking about the already concluded ‘science’ of Global Warming.
Ironically, the fact-resistant humans “believe in science,” entirely without understanding the scientific method.

What we are witnessing is a society that believes with all of their being in the two most extremes.
1. The science is settled and that's that.
2. Nothing is certain and therefore everything has validity.
When one position is challenged they revert to the other.
Trump’s going to shake up the posers in the ‘scientific community’.... shake ‘em right out of the tree.
This is already an epidemic of epic proportions.
Cognitive dissonance was first investigated by Leon Festinger, arising out of a participant observation study of a cult which believed that the earth was going to be destroyed by a flood, and what happened to its members — particularly the really committed ones who had given up their homes and jobs to work for the cult — when the flood did not happen.
While fringe members were more inclined to recognize that they had made fools of themselves and to "put it down to experience", committed members were more likely to re-interpret the evidence to show that they were right all along (the earth was not destroyed because of the faithfulness of the cult members).
