Actually, science does not deal in “facts.”
It deals in hypotheses and experimental results.
When enough experemental results are gathered to either refute or affrim an hypothesis, that hypothesis is considered to be scientifically invalidated or validated.
Furtheremore, no hypothesis, or “model,” can ever completely define the natural world, as we learned from Goedel’s Incompleteness Theorem.
There is always a better hypothesis or model, than the one we have, we just haven’t found it yet.
In other words, there is no such thing as “settled science.”

What we are witnessing is a society that believes with all of their being in the two most extremes.
1. The science is settled and that's that.
2. Nothing is certain and therefore everything has validity.
When one position is challenged they revert to the other.
