Here is a sentence I never thought I’d type: After days of prayer, reflection, and serious study of the possibilities, I am not going to run as an independent candidate for president of the United States.
I gave it serious thought — as a pretty darn obscure lawyer, writer, and veteran — only because we live in historic times. Never before have both parties failed so spectacularly, producing two dishonest, deceitful candidates who should be disqualified from running for town council, much less leader of the free world.

I guess Billy Kristol doesn’t have as much clout as he thought. Either way, I am sure they appreciated the short-term increase in page views.

David French just pulled the plug from the #NeverTrump movement.
Besides a handful of disaffected Washington insiders, it had no real support.
And there was no groundswell of popular enthusiasm for a David French candidacy.
Oops, perhaps Kristol should drag his sorry arse into the race. Then we can at least have a good laugh, because it will show him just what a big loser he is.

I don’t know this guy except some of what he has wrote - he is probably a very decent man - but being a near total political neophyte, he would on a total fool’s errand to take on this task - especially a mere 5 months before the election for President

What a graceless opus Mr. French offered up. He’s too irrelevant for an opus. Kristol can give up his mischief-making, and either improve his lame pamphlet (used to be a magazine), or shut it down altogether.
He’s not even the person to run against Harold Stassen or Pat Paulson.
I bet Kristol is in a state of shock and panic now.
