A 29-Year Study Has Found No Link Between Brain Cancer and Cellphones If, and by how much cellphones increase the risk of brain cancer is a long and disputed argument. No one study is going to settle anything, but one statistical analysis of data in Australia hints at cellphones being reasonably safe.
The study examines the incidence of brain cancer in the Australian population between 1982 to 2013. The study pitted the prevalence of mobile phones among the populationstarting at 0 percentagainst brain cancer rates, using data from national cancer registration data.
The results showed a very slight increase in brain cancer rates among males, but a stable level among females. There were significant increases in over-70s, but began in 1982, before cellphones were even a thing.
The data matches up with other studies conducted in other countries, but Australia is a particularly excellent exampleall diagnosed cases of cancer have to be registered by law, creating consistent data to work with.
By the nature of the multiple variables, large samples and very long lead-time for cancer to show up, the cellphone-brain cancer conversation is always going to be contentious. But studies like this are increasingly showing that if you really want to be safer, forget your cellphones, and look both ways crossing the road.
Pinging dayglored, ThunderSleeps, and Shadow Ace for the cellphone lists. . .

Which cellphone company bankrolled the “study” ?
Joe Pesci, Carlin bit.
Why don’t these idiots do a real study like the link between cellphones and fatal automobile accidents.
Too easy. . . and lack of chimpanzee drivers?
Or amount of cellphone usage and lower iq’s.
new study,, if you are alive at one point in history you might get cancer,,
Oh sure thing as if looking at actual data (cell phone use vs brain cancer incidence) is going to be able to be diddled
Brain cancer rates had not in Australia. Tough fact
You’ve got grant potential
Coincidence is not causation, in the instance of brain cancers. That shall only happen after cell phones are implanted directly to the auditory nerves within the skull.
And that is coming.
But there is a very direct correlation between cell phone use and inattentive driving (or even walking).
Cellphones don't cause fatal auto accidents...TEXTING on Cellphones do!
Do earphones count?
Talking on the phone while driving does affect the driving of a lot of people.
I drive a lot, and can often spot a cell phone user long before I am close enough to see if they’re using a phone.
Avoiding them is a good practice.
I noticed yesterday that there are dozens of small signs all around a local school cluster (elementary, middle, high) saying, "Phone down, head up!"
I deduce from this that students have been wandering out into traffic.
I believe you’re correct to a point..... BUT. I often take long trips with friends and family....we talk. Too much talk sometimes. I find no difference with a phone.
I have witnessed texting swerving much more than simple calls. My new explorer was rear ended and totaled at a light by a distraught lover in a work truck who was texting furiously to get his girlfriend back. The cop was too put out to confiscate the phone.... I let his insurance handle it. But my wife was in bad shape for weeks.
No. I talk on phones.....hands free... I personally have no problems doing this as I can walk and chew gum at the same time.
Do earphones count?
Most newer vehicles are equipped with Bluetooth. I drove around in rust buckets for decades. Finally got a new Explorerer in 2012 and used the Bluetooth in that till I got rear ended by a texter (see 17).
The insurance paid for my 2014 ram pickup which also has Bluetooth.
Good stuff Bluetooth. Just like talking to someone in the passenger seat.
I have a 2011 Ford Flex that has Blue-Toof just haven’t turned it on.
Everyone who has cancer drinks water.
Therefore, water causes cancer.
It’s surprising how many people reason like this....
The way to do this is to amass an enormous amount of data about a large group of people who have brain cancer and look for unique things they have in common.... your cause may be found there. This study looked at just one possible cause for 29 years, not a good approach IMO.
