JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) A high-profile endorsement from former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin couldnt deliver this state for Donald Trump as Ted Cruz won the Alaska Republican presidential preference poll.
Cruz, a U.S. senator from Texas, edged the national GOP front-runner in Alaska for his third win of Super Tuesday. Trump was still the nights big Republican winner with victories in seven states. U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, who finished third in Alaska, won one state.
The other two candidates on Tuesdays ballot in Alaska John Kasich and Ben Carson did not garner enough support to win any delegates.
The Alaska GOP reported high voter turnout that exceeded 2012 levels as thousands of Alaskans decided which of the remaining GOP presidential candidates would get their support. Party spokeswoman Suzanne Downing said in an email that volunteers manning polling sites were somewhat overwhelmed by the unbelievable turnout.
Some sites saw long lines, including the convention center that served as the lone polling location in Juneau, where dozens of people, including state legislators, lobbyists and Alaskas first lady, waited their turn to vote. First lady Donna Walker declined to say who she supported.
State Sen. John Coghill, a Republican from North Pole, wasnt shy in declaring his support for Cruz, seeing Cruz as closest to his own philosophy. He said Cruz and Rubio but Cruz especially seem to be more supportive of states rights. Coghill is among the state legislators who have been concerned about federal overreach. He said he would support whomever the Republican nominee winds up being.

Like it’s her fault. She is the new Bush.
Why, because Cruz would end a mandate for a fuel additive that Trump would not put in any of his aircraft nor his little boat?
They used to tell us alcohol and gasoline don't mix...
I would say stick a fork into her to see if she is done, but I suspect she will continue to plague us with her semi-literate and often incomprehensible statements for years to come.
Question 1: What is the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull?
Answer 1: Lipstick.
Question 2: What is the difference between a Sarah Palin statement and a Donald Trump statement?
Answer 2: The pitch.
All Ted needs to do is win Texas every week and he will be fine.
I think you should read Jim R's message yesterday on flamebaiting, name calling and acting like an overall jackass. Your posting privileges may depend on it.
Keep it classy sport
“Typical Trumpnutter spin. Cruz won the caucus period”
Except, when it comes to the primary wins, the Cruz-bots will point out how many voted against Trump.
In their world, the same cannot be said with the two states Cruz won, because that is not supposed to apply to Cruz.
I’ve noticed she vanished from the campaign trail.
Leni
Of curse when VA. Comes up to trump supporters the W will be all that matters.. at least as trump said of the negotiation of the wall “at this moment” in his news conf.
A comment at the site: The difference between Cruz and Trump was only about 1300 votes and Trump still picked up 11 delegates, Cruz got 12
He barely won.
I’m not sure endorsements matter this cycle.
I agree. Endorsements don’t really matter this year for Republicans. But the Dems still count on their sheep to be led and steered by endorsements.
Ted won Alaska?
That’s great. Way to go, Alaska.
Phew. I’m glad there are a few actually conservative places left in America.
Otherwise, the whole freaking place is like rotting fish.
Clowns follow the clown.
Exactly.
Thanks for your concern but perhaps you should focus on your posts and I’ll worry about mine.
Does any know if the MORMON (GLEN BECK) vote had anything to do with the Cruz victory in Alaska? Was it the anti-Palin vote or the Mormon vote? Or both?
http://www.mormonnewsroom.org/facts-and-statistics/country/united-states/state/alaska
The link above states there are over 33,000 Mormons in Alaska.
Unlike Trumpophiles, other Cruz supporters don’t speak for me.
Who do you think Rubio and Kasich will give their delegates to? Lol. Hint, it won’t be Trump.
