On his last full day in space aboard the International Space Station (ISS), NASA astronaut Terry Virts at last captured a truly iconic shot of one of the Seven Wonders of the World the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.
Virts snapped the exquisitely sharp view of the Egyptian pyramids at Giza on June 10 looking out from the stations windows, just hours before entering the Soyuz return spaceship and closing the hatches behind him for his planned plummet back to Earth.
He proudly posted the spectacular photo on his twitter social media account from space while serving as station commander of Expedition 43.
The three pyramids of Giza dominate the fantastically beautiful photo. They are located about 9 km (5 mi) from the town of Giza on the Nile, and some 25 km (15 mi) southwest of the Egyptian capital city of Cairo.
The Great Sphinx is also located nearby the massive complex of the Great Pyramids and visible in the stunning photo.

I can see maybe the date on a dime lying tails down, horizontal.
But I’ve never understood that claim. License plates are vertical.
Here’s a site where you only need enter your zip code...
“US and Canadian readers, enter your zip code below, hit Go!, and you will find out what is going to fly over your area in the nights ahead. There are hundreds of satellites in Earth orbit; we cut through the confusion by narrowing the list to a half-dozen or so of the most interesting. At the moment we are monitoring a number of spy satellites, the International Space Station, and the Hubble Space Telescope.”

“ISS” (on the flyby chart) = International Space Station
Not exactly Spring fresh in the old pyramids, eh?
To move the millions of stone blocks in 20 years to build the Great Pyramid, some mathematician calculated they would have had to lay a stone in the precise place and angle every 9 seconds.
That’s damn fine work for any union.
Shoot! Just type Giza Pyramids into google earth search and its a much better (sharp) pic.

The space photo shows that the Pyramids are hardly out in the middle of no where. They're immediatlly adjacent to Giza. Which of course, like all of Egypt, is nasty hole populated by awful people.
No longer have the headdress, but many pix also.
That’s too bad.
Hmmmm... looks like they could pretty easily check out your family’s backyard barbecue.
And they weren’t even using the GOOD cameras.
I marveled at the traffic.. At a stop light in the downtown of Cairo.. You had carts. Bikes, buses, trucks, taxis, motorcycles, no lanes .. not marked anyway.
The light changed and a whoosh of dust ensued..
I enjoyed the visiting the Cairo Museum Most not all.. Food wise. It was OK.
I can’t go into specifics, but when I was in the military around 1967, the capability for satellite cameras to spot a golf ball on the course was in place.
I'm thinking that they can see dimples now, on golf balls and other things! But as I am a laymen, I may be wrong.
Aha!!! THE PYRAMIDS ARE ACTUALLY A DIRECTIONAL SIGNAL, TELLING THE NEXT GROUP OF ALIENS WHERE TO LAND..
Hah...I went there when I was in the USN back in the mid/late seventies, and a guy I was with did a camel ride, and the guy wouldn’t let him off unless he agreed to pay more...the guy jumped...:)
Yes, I also was overcharged in 2004. I’m too ashamed to admit how much I payed.
Egypt is a place where an American woman doing a TV report gets sexually brutalized by a crowd of men to the point of permanent physical damage.
Garbage culture. Wicked people.
The father, the mother and the child.
Your photo of Giza reminds me of the movie Blade Runner.
As above, so below.
