Okay, I'm normally a political and news poster..but am searching for some new BBC shows to addict myself to post Downton Abbey. Hoping Freepers can help. There was a thread about this a while back.
After realizing that the Brits are light years better than us for turning out watchable, absorbing and well acted, directed and produced "who dunnits", and as I am on a political sabbatical for obvious reasons..
Here's my completed viewing list over the last three months: 1. Prime Suspect: Helen Mirren 2. Foley's War: all except the new ones that aren't out yet. 3. George Gently...Seasons 1-4.
I am currently addicted to the latter, especially seeing as Lee Ingleby as Sargeant John Bacchus is the best(and yummiest) actor EVER...and the chemistry between him and Martin Shaw as DCI Gently is priceless. Similar is interaction between Michael Kitchen as DCI Christopher Foley and his driver, Sam Stuart played by Honeysuckle Weeks in Foyle's War.
We have similar down here. From the UK we get “Strictly Come Dancing” which is the same. Don’t know the people but the dancing is fun. I catch the later DWTS on YouTube. I’ve always maintained that some star can come out in a walker and win. But then, the scores are fifty-fifty so ... dunno.
Yeah, her. Her email is private reply here. I’ve saved all her email’s to me to send on as personal attacks. I’m not the vindictive sort so I’ll just hang on to them. I feel sorry for her and what she’s going through with her mother so I understand her frustrations, but, then again, the last show was in February and it’s all out on the internet.
The Lovejoy Mysteries are stellar.
“You’re nicked, you slag!”
Thanks everyone. Dumping cable next month. Now I have a good idea what to stream.
I also just purchased a tie-in series called "Dust to Dust" which uses some of the same actors, but it's now 1981 and another character with ties to Sam Tyler (the "time-traveling" cop from "Life on Mars") has come from 2008 to interact with DCI Hunt, Sam Tyler's boss and nemesis from 1971.
I haven't had a chance to watch it yet but it looks like it ought to be very very good.
Thanks for the thread. Lots of great ideas.
“All” in the address bar doesn’t ping anyone..It is just typed in hoping people see the message..
I am anxious to see if my library has some of these available..Great list..and I notice some old favorites, too
It’s posts like yours that has caused me to avoid this site.

Youtube has many episodes of some of the favorites listed.
I have my laptop on the bed and just enjoyed some Midsomer Murders.
Hi Ribeye,
I just started Wire For Blood and was wondering if you watched the whole series. I watched the first epi and liked it, even though it’s a little on the brutal side!
Also, can you tell me any more about Cracker?
My mom and I love Inspector Lynley, Vera & Inspector Lewis, Dalziel & Pascoe. For British/Scottish/Irish cop shows there’s Taggart & Murphy’s Law.
Thanks Pgh.
MI-5 (Spooks in the U.K.) is terrific.
Yep! Another one for Midsomer Murders
