I Need Your Prayers, Freepers (Tragedy/Comedy/Vanity)
My Life ^ | Today | Diana in Wisconsin

Posted on 05/28/2010 5:23:34 AM PDT by Diana in Wisconsin

Well, addiction has reared its ugly head again in our household. Had to kick Husband out this week. It appears that he has been 'doctor shopping' for prescriptions, and has gotten involved with some other relapsing druggies.

*SIGH*

It's been ten years since he got SOBER, but since he's on prescription drugs for back pain, he never really did get 'clean.' I gave it all I could. The kids are grown, I'm requesting my freedom from this madness. I matter little to him; I'm sure you know where his priorities lie.

I won't bore you with the details; this happens every day. My priorities have now shifted greatly; I'm in survival mode and I could really use some prayers...prayers that I stay strong. Prayers that I stay focused. Prayers that I will eventually see some light on the other side of this mess.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Everyone! I’ve been feeling surrounded by love and hope and all good things.

You guys are the best. Thanks for your support. I’m going to bed early; I’m exhausted and I need to be up early to enjoy my day off (with pay!) in my OWN garden, instead of the gardens at work! :)

1. You are not alone.

2. You may well be helping him too.

Prayers up for your continued strength. You can handle this. G-d bless.

Why I let this go on right under my nose for so long is my own issue to deal with.

Sometimes one marriage partner takes his or her vows very seriously, thinking only of "in sickness and in health," and doesn't think he/she has the right to break that solemn vow. But even Dr. Laura had those "3 As" which to her were the real vow-breakers: abuse, adultery, and, yes, addiction.

I went through a divorce, and I know of course this conservative website is going to have most people praying for your marriage, but sometimes one has to leave. And it is VERY HARD. At first I did go “home to Mama.” But after several months I got my own little house.

While I prefer not being alone, there was something absolutely FANTASTIC about closing my door at night and knowing NO ONE was going to try and control me, react to me, cause me pain. The sensation was heavenly. I felt I was reborn. I enjoyed being single so very much. It beats a bad relationship by MILES.

I am sorry for your struggle. My Mother went through this as well but times change. I suggest listening to the works of C.S. Lewis before you decide to break. You will be the very one to keep him from deaths door.
