NASAs David Hathaway has adjusted his expectations of Solar Cycle 24 downwards. He is quoted in the New York Times here Specifically, he said:
Still, something like the Dalton Minimum two solar cycles in the early 1800s that peaked at about an average of 50 sunspots lies in the realm of the possible.
NASA has caught up with my prediction in early 2006 of a Dalton Minimum repeat, so for a brief, shining moment of three years, I have had a better track record in predicting solar activity than NASA.

Didn’t the Dalton Gang die in Coffeyville, KS: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalton_Gang
Funny how many of them were marshals.

So we have at least the possibility now that the current and next solar cycles will experience very low sunspot activity levels. This fact alone should halt Cap and Trade legislation in its tracks, yet it continues onward.
Thanks.
Will check it out.
A few months ago, I wrote several scathing posts about the Dr.Hathaway and his ridiculously holding on to maintaining that SC24 was going to have a raging maximum in the face of all the evidence and his constantly pushing his curves back later and later. Solar dynamics physicists have been suggesting for a decade that SC24 would likely be weak, so it isn’t like he should have been so cock sure. FINALLY he is admitting that he has been wrong in doing so. I have to give him a bit of credit for belatedly eating crow, I guess. I just wish that he hadn’t been so adamant about persuading others of the dubious merits of his position.
My youngest daughter was stationed in Okinawa a couple of years ago and she would call every couple of week saying they were huinkering down for yet another typhoon. Worried us sick.
And Now? Nuttin.
Andrew formed Aug. 16th and lasted until the 28th, 1986.
Wow!
My youngest daughter was over there from '92 to '95 and it seemed like she was enduring a typhoon every time we called.
Hmmmm? Are we Daddys-in-law?
BTW - her being in Okinawa was the main reason we signed up for Vonage. $5.00 for a call instead of $100.00.
“her being in Okinawa was the main reason we signed up for Vonage. $5.00 for a call instead of $100.00.”
Tell me about it! Luckily she had access to Vontage while she lived on base. When she moved off base, that was a different story.
Same story here. When she and Gunny-hubby moved off Kinser I got the bright idea of getting a "virtual" Okinawa number.
$5.00/month and it was a local call for her.
Sweet deal.
My daughter also married while in country but, was sent home for medical reasons leaving her then husband in Okinawa. She then proceaded to run up a number of credit cards, VISITING.
KIDS?
Legislation is never about facts, it's about politics - as in many blood sucking insects.
